"We were so impressed with the entire process. We wanted to reduce the upkeep and give the house a fresh look. Our first project was a stone walkway. We love it! Next Jill helped us plan removal of evergreens, a shell driveway, and way too much area with mulch. Our goal is to be able to stay in our home as we get older and to be able to manage it. We were given planting plan and an estimate that was clear and even used my own words, this told me that Jill really listened to us. They showed up when they promised and were flexible with a few changes and additions. With the many projects we have done over the years, this was by far the least stressful and most satisfying of them all. We give high praise to CP unlimited if you are looking for exactly what you asked for in a stress free no surprises fashion. We are happy to recommend CP to our friends and neighbors."

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

Land surveys don’t technically expire. They do serve as a point of reference and a snapshot of your property, though, so as soon as you make changes to your property (and even if your neighbor makes certain changes to theirs), your existing land survey becomes inaccurate, and a new one must be done. Even if you don’t make any changes to your property, many states only guarantee the accuracy of a land survey for five to ten years.

Permit requirements to clear land vary by municipality, so whether or not you need permits depends on where you live and what you’re removing from the land. Some building departments will require permits for any underground work or excavation, meaning grinding down tree stumps on your property would require permits. Others mandate individual permits for each tree you remove. You can contact your local building department or a land-clearing specialist near you to see if permits are necessary for your job.

You will find a collection of licensed land surveyors in your area. Your real estate agent or construction manager may also be able to recommend a trusted professional. When speaking with prospective pros in your area, ask the land surveyor if they are licensed in the state, have liability insurance, and can quote you a fee before starting.

Professional well contractors may use electromagnetic mapping to look for places with a high likelihood of water. Water access can vary significantly, even on the same property, so it can be difficult to know where to drill if you don’t have specialized tools to look for water.

Building a road on a slope requires careful planning and will normally require a drainage system underneath to prevent flooding and damage to the road over time. Your professional may lengthen your road to create switchbacks if the slope directly to your home is too steep, as there are regulations for maximum road slope. The drainage system will help prevent runoff from the higher side of the slope from damaging the asphalt or concrete. Keep in mind that building a road on a slope isn’t a good DIY project, as a lot can go wrong.
