"Paul was fantastic! He did an excellent job installing 4 ceiling fans for us. He kept me updated on what steps were needed in each location (e.g., removing existing track lighting, installing a fan box, extending the wiring, etc.) and worked efficiently. Paul was also kind enough to explain things to me, which I really appreciated. He has been in the field for a long time and is a wealth of knowledge. I will definitely reach out to Paul for future projects involving electrical!"

"Roldolfo responded very quickly and was able to accommodate our immediate timeline. He was always on time, very friendly, accommodating, and easy to work with. His skim-coating around two newly installed windows was terrific, and he was kind enough to repair a few additional anchor holes we added after he had begun. That being said, my husband and I fixed several deficiencies with the painting we only noticed after he had left. In a few places, it looked like only one coat of paint was used on the walls and the trim, as a few spotty areas still showed some of the plain white primer underneath – as if the rollers were not sufficiently loaded with paint. It produced a slightly splotchy, uneven appearance close up. We touched up some drips on the radiators too. Once we added another coat of paint ourselves, in specific places, it looks beautiful. My husband and I wanted the job finished ASAP so we could put all the furniture back, so we did it ourselves...although based on his responsiveness Rodolfo would likely have offered to fix the problem areas if we had requested it. Personally I would not hire them again, but if you need a job done very quickly, he’s capable."

"What a great experience and final product. Eddie and Simon were relentless in finding the perfect stones for the new retaining wall and front steps. Installation was done beautifully and with a masterful eye. They also installed the new railing on the steps, which came out beautifully, too. All of our neighbors have dropped by and commented on how incredible everything looks (and how jealous they are). I can't say enough about their professionalism, craftsmanship, and drive to please their clients. Plus, they're really nice guys!"

"The service for the GFI replacement/relocation was excellent. I also asked about a second project: replacing a fan/light/heater over the shower. They said the manufacturer still made these and they were going to check on availability the next day. The only reason I gave the service rating a 4 is because I haven't heard anything from them for a week. I still would highly recommend them for any electrical job."

"Moving to a new state and a new house, I immediately turned to Angies list to find a contractor to help tackle various issues around our house. I initially contacted Tony to install a bathroom door. After meeting him and discussing our options for the door, I instantly knew that he was the perfect choice, personable and took his time to explain things thoroughly. He gave me his opinion, while keeping in mind the costs and what made sense for my family. I then gave him my list, some which were more appropriate for a handyman. But knowing that I still was busy unpacking, he agreed to complete my projects. The following day he emailed me a detailed plan for each project, and in some cases, discussed his reasoning and why it was more cost efficient. Not your typical contractor, thank goodness! He worked at my house for 3 days, arrived on time(after early morning visits to Lowes and Home Depot), and left my house after cleaning the areas where he had worked. Tony even spent time teaching me things about my new home. My husband and I couldn't be more happy with the finished results. We will be calling him again."

Bathroom Fan Installation questions, answered by experts

There are many types of ceiling fans available, each designed for different spaces and needs. Standard ceiling fans are the most common type and work well in most rooms. Low-profile ceiling fans are better suited for rooms with low ceilings. Smart ceiling fans can be controlled with a smartphone or voice commands. For larger spaces with ceilings between 10 and 25 feet high, large ceiling fans are ideal. Dual-motor fans have two motors to produce more airflow in multiple directions. You can also find energy-efficient or Energy-Star models that can be up to 60% more efficient, as well as fans with built-in lights or retractable blades.

Yes, a fan can help drywall mud dry faster by improving air circulation and reducing humidity in the room. Drywall mud dries through evaporation, so increasing airflow speeds up this process. However, you should position the fan to blow across the room rather than directly on the wet mud. This helps prevent drying too quickly, which can cause cracking. You should also use a dehumidifier if high humidity is an issue.

Most ceiling fans have a lifespan of anywhere from five to 15 years or 10 years on average. Just how long your ceiling fan lasts depends on the quality of the parts, how much it’s used, and how well you maintain it. A fan with a weak motor that runs on the medium setting nonstop is likely to have a shorter lifespan compared to a fan with a powerful motor that runs on the slowest setting for air circulation.

Replacing an AC fan motor takes one to four hours for a pro to complete, depending on how easy or difficult it is to access the AC unit. A pro may also spend extra time inspecting the unit to make sure everything else is in good condition. It may take a few days or a week between the time a pro orders a new fan motor and when the replacement comes.

The lifespan of an attic fan depends on the type. Passive fans can last 40 to 50 years, while electric and solar models typically last 10 to 15 years. You can extend the life of your fan with regular maintenance, such as cleaning the fan blades and shutters and checking for moisture. For professional service, you can consult a local attic fan installer or have an HVAC technician clean, oil, and inspect the unit for potential issues.
