"Mrs. Clean is hands down the best cleaning service I’ve ever used! I’m incredibly meticulous, and with past cleaners, I often felt like I had to go over their work myself. But with Mrs. Clean, I never have to worry. They do an outstanding job every time—whether it’s a deep clean or regular maintenance. My home always looks spotless, smells fresh, and feels truly clean. Their attention to detail is unmatched, and their pricing is very fair for the high-quality service they provide. As a busy mom with a long commute, knowing I can come home to a beautifully cleaned space gives me peace of mind and allows me to actually relax. I’m always impressed, and I can’t recommend them enough!"

Buffing and Polishing questions, answered by experts

Yes, limestone often turns yellow over time when improperly cared for. The stone contains natural iron deposits, which can oxidize when exposed to water, acids, or harsh chemicals, such as bleach. Without exposure to water or chemicals, limestone should not turn yellow. Always seal limestone countertops to protect them from moisture, and only use gentle cleansers designed for stone.

If you would rather use vinegar to clean the stone fireplace instead of dish soap, this mixture should work fine. Vinegar is slightly acidic, however, so it may etch some kinds of stone without quite a bit of diluting. For a stone fireplace, dilute it to about one cup of vinegar for every gallon of hot water. It’s a smart idea to test the diluted mixture in an inconspicuous area of the fireplace and watch for etching. You can use vinegar to clean quite a few different items around your home, and it’s especially good at removing stains.

A mason lays brick or stone together, sometimes with mortar in between the bricks and stones, and sometimes without mortar, also called a dry-stack or surface bonding. Examples of work masons do include:

  • Brick, stone, or cement block houses and buildings

  • Freestanding stone or brick walls

  • Chimneys with wood-burning fireplaces

  • Cement block basement or crawl space walls

Most marble floors last at least 25 years, and they can last forever with proper care and maintenance. As a natural stone product, they have the edge when it comes to lasting longer than synthetic or softer materials, but they can become damaged. Grit and dirt that get ground into the surface will wear away the layers of stone over time, so cleaning and routine maintenance are necessary. In particular, regular sweeping and annual polishing and sealing will keep them looking beautiful and prevent wear and damage.

You can’t change the color of the stone, but you can update granite countertops without replacing them by painting them. Because granite is a porous material, you’ll want to seal them first before painting them so that the paint doesn’t hurt the surface. This is important because you don’t want to devalue your counters by damaging the original surface; even if you don’t like the color now, you or a new homeowner may want to remove the paint someday and return them to their original color. You can also cover them with
