"It took a few weeks but was worth the wait. Bob did an amazing job removing large ripples in the carpet of our Master BR. He stretched/trimmed it and now it looks new again! The job was completed professionally and he cleaned up the work site. Bob is a skilled flooring craftsman. His rate was reasonable too! You would do well to hire Bob for your next flooring project!"

"Excellent. The installers did a great job floors are beautiful, they cleaned up after themselves, were polite but friendly, and worked very hard completing the job in two days. They moved the furniture for us and had our king bed reassembled so we never missed a night,s sleep. I would recommend them to anyone."

Coordination in the field with multiple subcontractors to avoid conflict with flooring finish, the communication on the process and sequence was very professional and allowed us the builder to easily schedule other subcontractors. "Perfection - NE floors. Talk to Roman. He came one day and priced out buffing my old floors and applying a new cost of matte refinish. The home had been used as an air B and B for years and the floors in living room and dining room and stairs were badly worn and dirty. Nothing I did with cleaners and micro fiber cloths helped. Roman gave me what I felt was a good fair price. He was ready to come a couple of days later He and his guys moved all my furniture out, buffed the floor with some kind of compound, Cleaned up snd put down a new matte finish in half a day. I had to let the floors dry over night but they looked like new in the morning sunlight. All the dirt and imperfections I could see in the backlight before was gone. The finish looked like new and is perfect I’m thrilled, he couldn’t have done a better job. They came back put all the furniture back in place. All along They Couldn’t have been more careful, polite or professional. I highly recommend NE floors."

"Tamas and Son LLC were outstanding in refinishing our cork kitchen floor. Scott gave us a very fair estimate and he and the crew were very pleasant to work with and finished the job ahead of time. The floor looks better now than when it was installed 12 years ago. We are totally satisfied with the job they did, including a great clean-up."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Bamboo floors are fairly low-maintenance. You’ll need to sweep or vacuum them regularly to remove debris and rub off scuffs quickly to prevent permanent damage. Bamboo is vulnerable to moisture, so wipe up spills immediately to prevent permanent damage. When comparing bamboo flooring vs. hardwood, you’ll notice that the maintenance requirements are similar for both types of flooring.

Squeaking floors don’t usually pose an immediate safety risk. It can be the result of normal settlement, changes in humidity, or natural wear. Uneven or warped floors do pose a trip risk, so you should call a pro for a repair. This is especially true if you notice visible signs of rot or deterioration. Rarely, a creaking floor can signal structural issues, but there are usually other signs.

In most cases, you do not need to put padding or underlayment under carpet tiles. Unlike traditional carpet, which requires a separate pad, carpet tiles are designed to be installed directly onto a firm subfloor like plywood, concrete, or tile. Many carpet tiles come with a built-in underlay and attach with peel-and-stick adhesive, double-sided carpet tape, or glue. For a more comfortable, cushioned feel, especially in residential settings, you can opt for padded carpet tiles that have a thicker underlay attached. While it's generally not recommended to install a separate pad, a compact underlayment might be used in some situations, though this typically requires professional installation. An acoustic underlay may also be considered in commercial spaces or multi-level homes where noise reduction is a priority.

Yes, water coming up from the floor should be treated as an emergency. If you're unable to either identify or stop the source of the water on your own, contact an emergency plumber right away. In addition to harming your flooring, standing or pooled water can lead to water-damaged concrete.

While it is possible to install carpet yourself, it is a challenging DIY project that requires precise measurement, proper cutting skills, and knowledge of correct installation techniques. The process involves multiple steps, including removing old flooring, installing underlayment and tack strips, and stretching the carpet to prevent wrinkles, which can take several days to complete.

Before starting, consider these factors:

  • Warranty: Many manufacturers' warranties are voided if the carpet is not installed by a professional.

  • Tools: You will need to buy or rent specialized equipment like a knee kicker, carpet stretcher, and seam roller.

  • Complexity: DIY installation is most suitable for simple, straightforward rooms. Projects involving stairs or floor vents are significantly more difficult.

  • Cost: While you can save on labor, the cost of tools plus the risk of expensive mistakes—which may require re-installation—can make hiring a professional more cost-effective in the long run.

Given the potential for errors, voided warranties, and the need for special tools, hiring a local carpet installer is often recommended to ensure the job is done correctly and safely.
