"George Poulo runs an extraordinary electrical company. He actually returns calls, keeps appointments, finishes work on time. Poulo was hundreds of dollars less than the next lowest quote. This was no small job, it involved a complete upgrade to breakers from fuses, and 200 Amps service. I was highly satisfied and would recommend."

Customers say: Quality work

"If not for DC Electric fixing my pool motor, I would not have been able to lower the water in the pool in preparation for the additional inches of rainfall, thereby preventing possible flooding. Not only that, since I had Mr Cropanese here, he was able to address another electrical concern I had. Most happy with his work and will recommend him to others."

"Paciorek Electric was terrific at getting out to us quickly. MA was slammed with power outages (10/16/19) . Our generator was down (we hadn't had it serviced in years) and they came out right away to do a full service, repair, replaced battery, and spark plugs. We're up and running again. We will use them again for a regular service call when it's due."

"Frank called me and came out the next day. He knew exactly how best to handle our electrical issues and encouraged us to approve the repairs that would have the safest outcome. We are so grateful to Frank and will ask him back for the many other electrical projects we have in our old house."

"It only took Nick a half of a day to upgrade my whole panel and circuit breakers. He asked multiple questions on what I really needed and made suggestions on how to save a few bucks by not buying heavy duty equipment that wasn’t needed for my application. Take his business cards and hand them out. you and your friends and family will be very happy with his attention to detail and quality of work."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Yes, electric-start snow blowers need to be plugged in to start, but you can unplug them and go once they’re up and running. Simply plug the snow blower into an outdoor outlet and press the start button. Once it starts, you can unplug it and use it freely. The idea for these types of snow blowers is to simplify the starting process from the typical pull-string starts.

You should never plug a normal 120v appliance into a special 240v outlet, as it can quickly burn out the appliance. This will cause irreparable damage to the appliance and, in worse case scenarios, cause damage to your circuit breaker. Check your appliance’s rating before plugging it into a 220v outlet to avoid electrical disaster.

On average, the cost to wire a new home ranges from $2 to $5 per square foot. The cost to rewire a house is around the same, ranging from $2 to $4 per square foot. Often, though, new wiring comes with lower overall costs since it’s much easier to access a home’s foundation.

No, you should always use proper electrical wire caps to safely cap off electrical wires. Electrical tape isn’t as durable as electrical caps and can deteriorate and separate over time, exposing the live wires. The only way to use electrical tape for this project is to wrap it around the caps themselves to reinforce them and create an even stronger connection, preventing an electrical emergency.

Rewiring an electric system in a house typically ranges between $2,000 and $9,000, but a simple project can cost as low as $1,500. More complex upgrades run $10,000 or higher. The price depends on the size of your home, how accessible the wiring is, the cost of materials, and local electrician fees.
