E.C. Butler Furniture and Upholstery is offering exceptional quality upholstery services. We specialize in only custom furniture upholstering for both new and antique pieces. Do you have furniture from the 1970's or earlier? These pieces are vastly superior to todays furniture with thicker rails doweled joints with corner blocks and hand-tied coil springs. Here at Butler Upholstering we have been upholstering antiques and pieces such as these since the 1930s. A third generation, family owned and operated business, was founded by Heber Butler and his brother. It was taken over by his son E.C Butler in the 1950s, it is now run by his sons William and James Butler with combined experience over 70 years. From father to son to son E.C.Butler Upholstering has been "AN OLD RELIABLE CONCERN." We do not service cars, boats, outdoor furniture, partial upholstery jobs, no rips, or repairs.

"Great work and quick to fix"

"The loveseat looks and feels better than anticipated. Included in price was refinishing wood, regluing, retying springs etc. Comprehensive restoration. Great workmanship. High standards. Great to deal with. Clear communication. As far as fabric goes, you can choose from their somewhat limited selection, or go elsewhere to purchase your fabric and bring to them. No problems either way. Will go to them for future reupholstery jobs. Highly recommend."

Upholstering questions, answered by experts

Doing your own upholstery work is possible, but it’s typically a better idea to leave the work to professionals. Without experience and the proper tools, it’s difficult to get a professionally finished appearance for your furniture, and many DIYers end up spending money on tools and materials only to hire a professional when they can’t get the fabric to look right. If you have reupholstery experience, feel free to give it a shot. However, if you’re not confident in your skill level or you’re working with antiques, it’s worth the money to hire a pro.

Reupholstering is often worthwhile for high-quality, antique, or sentimental couches, especially if the frame is sturdy. It can cost less than buying a comparable new piece and allows for customization, but may not be cost-effective for low-end furniture.

As with any project, weighing the pros and cons of upholstery can help determine if that is the right choice for you. The ultimate question is whether it’s worth reupholstering instead of buying new furniture. Here are a few of the benefits and disadvantages of reupholstering a piece of furniture.

Pros:

  • Preserving a family heirloom

  • Maintaining high-quality furniture in good condition

  • Reinventing an old piece of furniture

  • Keeping a piece of furniture from going to a landfill

Cons:

  • Spending (possibly) more than to buy a new piece of furniture

  • Finding out the frame is beyond repair

  • Waiting for the reupholstery work to be done

Pros cover many fixes, from upholstery renewals to joint reinforcement.

Paper moving pads, also called furniture wrapping paper or paper moving blankets, are sheets of recycled paper used to protect various items during moving. Similar to traditional moving blankets, paper pads are also reusable, making them a sustainable and cost-effective option for protecting your belongings during the moving process. Although they’re recycled, they still provide excellent protection against dust, dirt, and scratches.
