" In order to complete to layout design I submitted a drawing of the room as well as a series of photos. The website for Homemade design has a questionaire what helps define your overall tastes in design. I joined Pinterest and started boards for furniture, lighting, bookshelves which were reviewed. Homemade design comes to New York periodically to meet with clients not in the Boston area and this gave us a chance to meet and select furniture and upholstery at the New York Design center. This is an extra charge but well worth it since I was completely overwhelmed. They were extremely patient and guided me through the process. At one point I decided to move the television which turned out to be a bad idea -- they explained why it would not worked and I concurred competely after I understood the reasons. So, they are not afraid to tell you if you going down the wrong road. I live in a New York City townhouse and forget that I do not have a whol lot of space even though my house is huge for NYC. So, I had to be told how to "scale" everything to the space we had to work with, which was helpful I purchased the service several months ago but was not ready to actually decide on the actual purchases until recently. So, the delay in completion is because of my schedule. I now hope to finish everything by September. "

"I sent the money and dimensions in in November 2011. She responded back very quickly, informed me that she was very busy and wouldn't be able to start on my project for a couple of weeks. I actually responded that that was fine. After a month or so with no contact, i emailed. She emailed right back, apologized and asked for some more measurements. I sent them. Didn't hear anything, when in response to inquiry, she asked again for living room measurements-- that was Feb. 3rd. On Feb. 20th, I emailed and asked for timeline. She responded back the next day with 3 designs asking for my preference. I emailed back on the 22nd of Feb with my preference. On March 16th, I inquired again as to timeline for completion. Two weeks later she sent a concept board with some furnishings. No window coverings or lights were suggested. Three were multiple rugs with no direction of which one for each room. All and all, not a pleasant experience. I suspect I could have gotten better service using Pottery Barn's free design service (especially since most of the furnishings came from there.)"

"I normally do not take the time to write letters of recommendation or reviews, however, in this case, I have felt compelled to share my experience we had with Paragon Pools and Christian Kavodia particularly. Without hesitation, to say we are impressed with our custom gunite pool is an absolute understatement. It was obvious the Paragon was not interested in just turning out another pool and moving on to the next one. Christian made sure that meeting all our expectations was a top priority. Trust me when I say we are somewhat hard folks to deal with, in terms of quality.
When the pool was laid out in our backyard we met our Christian and he walked us through all phases of construction very professionally.. Christian created a design plan that surpassed all of our expectations! It included a very functional layout for the pool, tanning decks, rocks, water features, lighting, fencing, decking and many other conversation pieces. He and his staff turned our backyard into a small slice of paradise. Christian is an owner that has his hands on the job the entire time. Prior to meeting with Christian, we meet with 2 other pool companies and neither of them came close to the vision Christian offered. On top of that, his engagement and I normally do not take the time to write letters of recommendation or reviews, however, in this case, I have felt compelled to share my experience we had with Paragon Pools and Christian Kavodia particularly. Christian and staff were very professional and extremely helpful in educating us on all of our options. From beginning to end our experience was an exceptionally good one. The quality of their company?s workmanship and customer service is excellent. I could really go on and on about our experience. Without hesitation, I would recommend Paragon Pool Design & Construction to anyone looking to turn there backyard into paradise at a very competitive price.

You can use outdoor electrical outlets to conveniently power landscaping equipment such as electrical lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and pressure washers. From a recreational standpoint, outdoor outlets are handy for powering electric grills, mini-fridges, and stereos. They're also helpful when it's time to string Christmas lights on your home and around your property.
The five common types of landscape lighting are up-lighting, down-lighting, spotlights, built-in lighting, and pathway lighting.
Up-lighting casts light upwards from the ground, mostly for aesthetic purposes.
Down-lighting directs light onto the ground, lighting pathways, or outdoor space.
Spotlights cast direct, focused lighting in any direction.
Built-in lighting integrates lighting into an outdoor feature.
If you take home a pre-lit Christmas tree but want to spruce it up with blinking lights, don’t worry, there’s a simple solution. You can easily replace the light bulbs on the pre-lit tree with flashing bulbs. For a more subtle look, only replace some of the bulbs with flashing bulbs.
If you need to visually inspect your Christmas lights to determine which are good and which need replacement, there are a few things to look for. First, look for discoloration, such as a dark spot or two on the inside of the glass. The spot is an indication of a burnt filament. Also, look for missing filaments, cracked bulb glass, and broken sockets.
Modern outdoor light fixtures are waterproof and weather resistant, and, provided they’re installed correctly and by a professional, the fixture and wiring can last for 20 to 30 years or more. The lifespan will depend largely on the quality of the fixture. The lifespan of the bulb will depend on the type of light you install:
CFL bulb (for sustained use): 15,000 hours
Halogen bulb (mostly for security): 2,000 hours
HID bulbs (for security): 12,000 hours
Incandescent bulb: 1,000 hours
LED bulb: 50,000 hours
