"Daniel came on time, was upfront about his pricing and completed the job in a timely manner. There was no extra things trying to be sold to me like what happens with some of the bigger named companies. Definitely recommend Southern Lights Electrical."

"Mr. Treme was efficient, knowledgable and well versed in electrical work as well as landscaping. A relief valve had to be ordered and it took 2 weeks. The price was right for me. He sold me on installing under lighting for my trees. Though that was expensive, I am happy with the result. He also offered a good price on lawn maintenance without excessive herbicides at a good price. This is to include pulling up weeds, which has taken too much of my time."

"Within days of purchasing the deal, I received the instructions and paper to draw my table templates. The table has 2 drop leaves plus 2 additional leaves that can be inserted in the table. The templates were pretty easy to draw. The finished pads were delivered in a very short time. They fit the table and each of the 4 leaves perfectly and magnetically lock together to keep them aligned when on the table. A year and a half later, I still love these pads."

"She really has been an excellent help to us! my husband and I are in the process of redoing our whole living room. She has connected us with good contractors to get all the work done. She has also helped us with picking out the design which includes rugs, furniture, artwork, and even what is going to go on the shelves. She has been a tremendous help and we are very pleased with everything that she has done. We really love her work and can't say enough great things about Shelley!"

Lighting questions, answered by experts

Pool lights are designed to be safe by protecting swimmers from electrocution. These lights are made with waterproof fixtures and seals to prevent contact with the water.

Electrocution from pool lights is still possible, but rare. Faulty wiring or broken lighting equipment can make lights unsafe, so it’s important to replace lights as needed and have an electrician inspect and upgrade the wiring.

Yes, animals can trigger motion-sensor lights. In fact, this is a reason why some homeowners install motion-sensor lights, to catch sneaky little critters looking through the rubbish for a midnight snack. There are sensitivities to animal detection though, so you may want to look for an option that avoids animal detection as much as possible.

You can use outdoor electrical outlets to conveniently power landscaping equipment such as electrical lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and pressure washers. From a recreational standpoint, outdoor outlets are handy for powering electric grills, mini-fridges, and stereos. They're also helpful when it's time to string Christmas lights on your home and around your property.

High-quality landscape lights that are hardwired and properly maintained can last for 10 to 25 years or more. You’ll usually get a longer lifespan from soffit lights and wall-mounted lights that aren’t directly exposed to the elements or prone to damage from foot traffic or vehicle traffic. Solar-powered and battery-powered lights often won’t last as long, but you can still expect a lifespan of five to 15 years.

Common outdoor lighting issues include faulty or exposed wiring, burnt-out or damaged bulbs, and broken or faulty fixtures. Regular maintenance can help prevent many of these problems.
