First, most contractors will have a structural engineer create a report and plan for your project to ensure it’s safe to cut into the load-bearing wall. The contractor will then excavate around the wall, if necessary, measure the opening—allowing for additional space to fit and level the door, and then cut the doorway out. They will likely install a steel lintel as a header over the door for support. Once the doorway is cut out, they’ll demolish the concrete using sledge hammers and masonry chisels, clean up the surrounding concrete, and seal around the door with masonry mortar. 

An easy way to cut concrete pavers without a saw is to use a hammer and chisel. You can make a few passes over your paver with a hammer and chisel to make a fissure where you want the paver to break. Once the divot is about 1/8 inch thick, drive the chisel hard into the center of the line to complete the cut without using a saw.

To estimate concrete removal costs, determine the area of the concrete by multiplying the width and length. The result will give you the square footage. Then, multiply the square footage by the cost of concrete removal, which is $2 to $6 per square foot for concrete up to 6 inches thick. For thicker concrete, double the square footage costs to get your estimate. 

Disposal costs are often factored into the cost per square foot, but check your contract. If concrete disposal is not included, you’ll pay $50 to $100 per ton.

Removing a fence can be rather difficult. The fence posts are likely buried deep in the ground and may even be set in concrete. After removing the fence pickets and rails, allocate plenty of time for removing the fence posts. Depending on the condition and size of a fence, removing one could take anywhere from a few hours to a few days.

Demolition includes wrecking, razing, or otherwise destroying an area or property, and with professional demo contractors, the process also includes surveying, permits, and debris removal in the cost. Pros will help prepare the site with inspections and surveys, demolish the area, haul away the debris, and clean up the area.
