Using a roller allows you to apply a mist coat quickly to avoid uneven spots while drying, but it can create streaks and splatters from the watery paint. Other types of finishes aren’t off limits, but you’ll have more success by choosing one that provides a nice sheen. 

If you are caulking, painter’s tape should be removed before the caulk starts to set. It only takes 30 to 60 minutes for the caulk to dry, so this should be done fairly quickly.

You should apply at least two coats of paint to your project, but some surfaces may benefit from a third coat of paint. Ensure you’ve waited the right length of time before applying a second or third coat of paint, and try to apply it evenly for a cohesive finish.

You should not mix ceiling paint with wall paint. The results will be unpredictable, and you might end up with a finish that doesn’t perform well on either surface. For example, the flatness of the ceiling paint may hamper the durability of the wall paint. It’s best to use each type of paint as intended to get the best look and more longevity.
