Gil, the owner, is as friendly as can be, which is why I kept using them, but I finally realized that I put more trust in him than I should have. The biggest complaint I have about Native Sun Landscaping concerns a tree that was planted in my mom?s yard two years ago. (She had three planted at one time, each costing $650 plus labor.) The Drake Elm didn?t look healthy during the first few months, but Gil assured us that it would be okay with time because he could see buds on it. We waited a year, and then he agreed to replace it. But the replacement tree was badly misshapen. I know that now. At the time though, we didn?t know what it should look like. Our ignorance caused us to accept a tree that we should have refused to let them plant. Mom paid top dollar for poor quality. In addition to the branches being completely crooked (all growing in one direction, rather than falling evenly on all sides) the trunk grows at a slant. We have learned (two years later) that nothing can straighten this trunk because the ball was planted crooked. * We thought that branches would fall into place over time, but they didn?t. * We thought that the ropes they tied to it would straighten the trunk. * One year later, a tree service and a different landscaper both said that this tree was badly deformed at the nursery and will never grow into a pretty tree. (A month earlier, Gil gave Mom a quote for pruning, claiming that it would help the shape.)
In Feb. 2014 I wrote a letter to Gil Mayeaux, asking him to remove this ugly tree. He ignored the letter. The first time he cut our lawn he blew us away with his professional job. I thought, "Oh yeah, they always do a great job the first time, but tell me about the third." I can now say that the third, fourth, and fifth times were as good as the first. He notices when we plant new baby trees, and is great to talk to about yards in general. Mr. Thomas is a hard worker, prompt, and efficient. I will be sad if he gets so much work that I don't see him as often. FAQs for plant watering projects in Carencro, LA
Landscapers typically charge $25 to $50 per person per hour, which equals around $50 to $100 per hour for a two-person crew. These rates can vary depending on your location, the size of staff needed for the job, and overall job type. For example, a larger crew will be needed for structural additions and hardscaping versus planting flowers.
When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
Lawn irrigation is the process of getting water to your lawn, grass and all, for it to grow. There are five main types of lawn irrigation methods:
Manual irrigation puts you in charge of the flow of water. Using a sprinkler head on your hose is best to evenly distribute the water across your entire lawn. This doesn’t take much time but requires you to be physically outside holding the hose.
Above-ground sprinklers attach to your hose and rotate or oscillate around your lawn. Since these are above-ground, they’ll need to be moved when it’s time to mow, and depending on the size of your property, you might need to move it around your yard for full coverage.
In-ground sprinklers are flush with the ground when not in use but pop up above the ground level when it's time to water the lawn. Piping for these sprinklers is all found underground, and there are different types of sprinkler heads for different uses and lawn sizes.
Drip irrigation involves drip lines that are more efficient than sprinklers for more extensive lawns. This involves a lot of digging since they are installed underground, but it makes it easy for you to mow.
Rainwater collection and irrigation uses nature’s precipitation to water your lawn. This option might not be available in every area since semi-reliable rainfall is needed, though the barrels for this system can range from 15 gallons to 10,000 gallons or more.
The cost of a lawn sprinkler system is $2,550 for the average homeowner. However, this price can range from $350 to $5,000 or more, depending on the type of sprinkler system you install, the size of your yard, and the type of sprinkler heads you choose. For example, rotating or oscillating sprinkler heads are more expensive than stationary ones, making the cost for one sprinkler head $2.50 to $30 each. Likewise, a yard that is 1/4 of an acre in size averages a total average price of $2,460; however, a one-acre yard averages a cost of $9,840.
Landscaping costs around $3,500 but varies widely from $200 to $14,000. Factors that play a part in your final landscaping price tag include:
Location
Yard size
Project size
Materials
Land preparation
Type of landscaping
Considering so many factors, it’s not surprising that the overall costs can differ. A typical landscaping project is flower bed installation, which averages between $800 and $3,000. However, landscape lighting installation is a higher-end project, with a price tag of $2,000 to $6,000.
