If you’re brave enough to tackle building your own cabinet bases, you’re brave enough to install them yourself. You’ll need a stud finder to get you started, but the installation will be a breeze if you’ve already done all the hard work to build the cabinet bases yourself. Solid wood cabinets and heavy dishware should be avoided if you cannot secure the cabinet to a wall stud. Either way, always check the weight on your wall anchors and be sure not to exceed it.

Since melamine is a type of laminate, both types of cabinets are similar in features and benefits, but they also differ in some ways. Melamine is generally more affordable than laminate, while also being resistant to scratches, stains, and heat. However, melamine cabinets are also heavier and may easily splinter during installation. All in all, the choice between melamine and laminate cabinets will depend on your specific needs.
