"I called Grant. He looked over my project. Told me what he could do for me. He did some Masonary work. He repaired some old plumbing for me. He did such a great job that I called him back for a Painting job as well. He painted my cathedral ceiling and did an excellent job! He was prompt and his communication with me with spot on. "I live in Ohio and thru Angi searched for a contractor to replace a window in a modular home in Tennessee. My sister lives in the home. The contractor Fendernation contacted me. He contacted me and said he could do the job. I paid him 500.00 thru Zelle . The money was sent to Teresa Hall 352-461-7544. He said she was working with him. I drove to Tennessee and was there when he come to the house. I told him I not only wanted the one broken window replaced but both windows (which are side by side) so it looked the same. Also I asked if he could replace the front door and he said he could. At this point I wrote him a check for 300.00. (Balance due on Invoice 466683. He took out the broken window and went to get the doors (entry and storm door). He then said he couldn’t get the window and could close up the hole or get a different size window in. I did not want that. The doors he bought were standard size and opened the wrong way. He said he thought he picked up the wrong order at Lowe’s and would exchange. Then he told me he could order the door but it would be 3 weeks. Then he said that size was not available. He again said he could make to standard door fit, I did not want that. I searched around and found a Rv and Mobile home dealership that had the correct windows and door and decided to go with them. At this point I told him I was going with the other company and would like a refund. He understood and said he would start the refund process. The invoice showed the cost of the doors as 178.00 and 414.00 totaling 592.00. He advised that taking out the window would be 120.00. 592.00 less 120.00. I would like a refund or 472.00. I’ve paid him 800.00. I believe asking for 472.00 is more than fair. He will have made a total of 328.00 and didn’t complete the job."

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

We don’t recommend using a tub liner to cover up cracks in a bathtub. Instead, you should repair the cracks yourself if you have the experience or hire a pro. Cracks may seem like small surface imperfections, but they can lead to much larger issues, so repair them as soon as you can.

Labor is the most expensive part of a bathroom remodel. If you’re doing a major remodel, structural changes (such as moving walls) and plumbing reconfiguration can be costly. For a standard remodel, the big-ticket items include tiles and new tub or shower fixtures.

Completing a full standard bathroom remodel offers the best value, with an average return on investment (ROI) of 70%. However, you don't need a full remodel to make an impact. To maximize value, focus on key components like flooring, the tub and shower, vanity, and cabinets. High-value upgrades include installing a walk-in shower, resurfacing a tub, retiling, or expanding the shower. For more budget-friendly options that still increase value, consider repainting with a light, neutral color, or updating the mirror and light fixtures. It's also crucial to address any necessary repairs, such as leaks, mold, or cracked tiles, as buyers will notice these issues. Avoid flashy upgrades like bathtub jets or steam showers, which don't add as much value.

The impact of a walk-in tub on home value depends on various factors, including market demand, demographic preferences, and overall home features. While some buyers may view it as a desirable accessibility feature, others might see it as a niche amenity, potentially limiting the pool of interested buyers. However, it could add value if the walk-in tub meets specific needs or enhances the property's appeal to a target demographic. Ultimately, its effect on home value varies case by case, with factors like installation quality, design, and neighborhood trends playing roles in determining its impact.

Start by gutting the old fixtures and features that need to be removed, such as the tile, vanity, and flooring. You may benefit by removing the toilet, even if you intend to use the same one. Next, install the new shower or tub, followed by the flooring, and then the drywall, which you should then paint. After that, install your new cabinets, vanity, countertop, sink, and faucet, in that order. Replace your light fixture next. Lastly, reconnect the toilet.
