Two Dads Construction Partnership with Insurance My friend/co-worker and I both do odd jobs or handyman services on the side of full-time employment. We'll do both large and small jobs. He and I will both be available to do the work outside of normal working hours with increased availability of the job. We are specifically looking for jobs dealing with the following: Flooring / Tile / Carpet / Wood Drywall Minor Electrical Work Painting Decking Wood fencing Mowing Landscaping Light concrete work Baseboard/Trim/Crown molding Entryway/Door work Light and ceiling fan fixtures Light plumbing Framing Demolition Kitchen Renovations Bathroom Renovations Insulation We are honest, hardworking, straightforward, and efficient. We are open to all jobs however. Most we can say is no. To build customer relationships in the area, we are doing free estimates. We are fair on pricing and will work with customers. A stair runner can be cheaper than a carpet and will definitely save money over the cost of refinishing hardwood floors and stairs. The price depends, however, on the fabric and quality of the runner. A wool stair runner can be more expensive than an inexpensive polyester carpet and vice versa. Keep an eye on your budget, knowing that the higher quality the carpet and the carpet pad, the better the carpet will wear over time.

Vinyl and laminate flooring can have a similar life span. Both well-maintained laminate and luxury vinyl flooring can last up to 25 years. The exception is the thinner type of vinyl flooring that comes in sheets and lasts less than 10 years. It’s important to note that vinyl is waterproof, whereas you can ruin laminate if it absorbs too much moisture.

Installing carpet on stairs involves a lot more cutting, tucking, tack strips, and time. The shape of your staircase, along with the material and construction of the carpet you’re installing, will also increase the cost. Carpet installation on stairs will cost $400 to $800 in total, but it can go as high as $2,500 for difficult staircases, such as wrap-around, upholstered, or spiral staircases.

If you don’t put padding under your carpet, the carpet won’t be protected from wear on the underside. This could result in a shorter life span for your carpet and increased carpet repair costs over time. An unpadded carpet can also be less comfortable to walk on, depending on your subfloor and the type of carpet.

Because concrete is porous, installing flooring directly onto the surface is not a good idea. Any moisture within the concrete due to atmospheric conditions or seasonal humidity can seep into your flooring, causing warping or damage. In most cases, you’ll need to install at least a moisture barrier between the concrete and the flooring you choose.
