"I called Alarm Protection Group AFTER my office was burglarized. Now I feel SAFE. William is great to work with. He's neat and tidy, prompt, presentable - not a butt-crack type of guy, and he doesn't leave a mess in his wake. He's also knowledgeable about the equipment and only uses high-quality products."

Small jobs welcome

"We hired Mr. Handyman to remove our wood stove and install a new one. The work was A+ quality, he was on time and very polite, nice to visit with. There was a portion of his time here that was spent waiting for a co-handyman to arrive and help with some heavy lifting, and I was a little nervous about that, as the time clock was ticking. However, the work that was done was superior and it was such a relief to get the job done. Overall, a good experience and I would recommend them to anyone needing a job well done. They don't come cheap - there are more than enough cheap services out there. All I have to say for that is that you get what you pay for. Mr. Handyman does the job right and he is worth every dime. Highly recommended!!"

"ADT is the best company to talk to in terms of security alarm. Being a locksmith myself I know how important it is to deal with the right people. I referred a lot of customers to them and so far they are happy with their service. I myself got one for my house. Thank you for a consistent service and great deal."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

You might assume that having two locks on one door will offer more protection than only one lock, but there may not be an advantage. While there’s nothing wrong with having two locks if you feel it’s best for your living situation, rest assured having one high-quality deadbolt installed correctly will offer a high level of protection.

Lock bumping is a technique locksmiths use to quickly and quietly open a pin tumbler lock, typically found in most types of deadbolts. It involves inserting a specially crafted key, or bump key, into the lock and tapping or "bumping" it with a mallet or similar tool. The force applied causes the lock's pins to jump momentarily, allowing the lock to be turned and opened. Unfortunately, thieves also use this technique to break into homes. Luckily, products like a deadbolt strap will fortify your lock.

If your door handle turns without opening, the most likely culprit is a loose or stripped spindle. This part connects the handles to the latch mechanism, and when it’s not properly engaged, turning the handle does nothing. Other issues might include a broken latch, loose screws, or even something small blocking an inner mechanism. In any case, it’s usually a matter of tightening, adjusting, or replacing a worn-out part inside the handle assembly—or calling in a professional to do it for you.

It depends on the quality of the keyless lock and usage, but in general, you can expect a keyless lock to last around three to five years. The batteries typically last around six to 12 months. The good news is most keyless locks include a low battery indicator so you can receive ample warning if your battery is about to die.

Standard residential deadbolt locks come with a steel bolt that locks your door into place using a key (or keypad) on one side and a thumb turn on the other. When you lock it, the bolt slides into a strike plate on your door jamb to secure your door shut.
