"After a full season of treatments, weeds in our lawn never disappeared. In late April, I complained about the number of dandelions.

They replied, "You will continue to have some weeds during this first season.  This is why there are 5 applications planned so we will be back regularly over the season. Over time on our program, your lawn will have less and less weeds and the grass will stay green. Some companies come in and kill the weeds off too fast, but it can also kill the grass when done that way. It is not healthy for the lawn to have too much weedkiller applied - so do not expect to be completely weed free immediately. Our goal is a long term, healthy lawn."

By the end of the season, a number of weeds remained prevalent in our lawn.

At our previous home, we used a different vendor and our lawn was always green, healthy and weed-free throughout the first season and subsequently.

We decided to engage a different vendor for the following season."

Weed Services questions, answered by experts

Yellow leaves and stems on your sprouts indicate they’re not getting enough light. Keep them near the appropriate light source and give them as much as they need (they require longer exposure to fluorescence than they do to natural light sources).

No, definitely not. Pulling weeds by hand is the single most effective way to remove them because you're eliminating the entire plant—roots and all—so it won’t have a chance to grow or spread. Setting time aside a few times per week to pull weeds can keep them at bay. If the number of weeds gets overwhelming, then you can resort to other methods.

Purchase a selective herbicide that targets clover and similar weeds but doesn't take out your grass. You can also keep it from growing with corn meal gluten or remove clover from your lawn manually at the start of the season as part of your lawn maintenance checklist.

Yes. One of the main benefits of organic mulch is weed prevention. Organic mulch forms a physical barrier that blocks light and stops weeds from germinating. It can reduce your need to weed and improve the physical appearance of your garden.

If you have a lot of tree roots in your yard or have experienced issues in the past, you should use tree root killer every six months to prevent roots from infiltrating your pipes. If you have an active invasion and aren’t seeing results, check the instructions on the bottle to see how often you can use it in a short period of mine.
