"It took a lot of phone tag to finally get the technician to our house, but once here he was efficient and professional and did an amazing job. The chip was in the edge of a white quartz countertop, very difficult to match perfectly, and the repair is absolutely invisible. Not the lowest bid, but worth the price."

Keystone Designs, Inc. was formed in 1992 with two employees providing solid surface countertops and cultured marble burial urns to a handful of customers. Nineteen years later the company has grown to employ 28 associates occupying facilities exceeding 18,000 square feet. Today Keystone Designs is one of the largest providers of premium solid surface and stone countertops for high end residential, commercial, recreational vehicle, and marine markets in both north central Indiana and southern Michigan. Keystone Designs commitment to customer service fabricator excellence has been the catalyst for their sale growth. Early in 2005 Keystone recognized that the systems and manufacturing techniques that serve them well as a small fabricator were not adequate for greater volumes and more demanding lead times. They would need to pursue aggressive change in order to meet the expectations of their customers. As a rapidly growing and certified DuPont Corian fabricator Keystone Designs qualified to participate in a DuPont sponsored Optimization Program. Keystone contracted with the South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership (SCMEP) to implement synchronous flow management velocity through the manufacturing process and therefore reducing lead times and improving on time delivery and installation performance. As a result of this effort Keystone has been able to reduce lead times from 3-4 weeks for custom stone and solid surface installation. Keystone Design’s employees and leadership team are dedicated to excellence and strive to provide both the premium product and unmatched customer service. Keystone Designs can provide you and your clientele with countertops that are the envy of the industry.

Marble and Granite questions, answered by experts
Tiling over your existing backsplash is possible with the right materials and preparation. To do this, the existing backsplash must be clean and free of damage. If you’re installing the new tiles with thinset mortar, the thinset will fill in the existing grout lines as you go, so there won’t be any low spots. If you’re installing a peel and stick tile backsplash, you’ll need to add grout to the existing grout lines first to create a level surface.
Yes, but you should only put tile directly on drywall in smaller areas that don’t experience excess moisture. For example, a small kitchen tile backsplash could work, but installing tile directly on the drywall in a bathroom or other chronically damp area is not a good idea. Either way, a cement backer board is a far more reliable solution, as drywall is susceptible to moisture and can warp or cause your tiles to crack.
To ensure an even and unbending surface to lay tiles on, you’ll typically need to put a subfloor under a tile floor. Fiber cement backboards are the most common choice, but using plywood is also possible. Don’t neglect this step, or you could risk water damage and grout or tiles prematurely cracking or crumbling, especially in an area with high foot traffic.
You can technically install tile over tile, but we don’t suggest it. Installing tile over any surface that isn’t a completely flat and prepared subfloor will result in a shoddy overall job, uneven flooring, tiles that don’t adhere, extra weight, gaps, cracks, and room for moisture and dirt to enter. For the best results, only install new tile on a flat, sanded surface like subflooring or concrete that is prepared for tile.
If you have asbestos tile and would rather tile over it than remove it, or if your existing tile is completely flat and bonded tightly to the floor, you may be able to tile over existing tile. But experts recommend thinking twice before you do.
Granite countertops cost an average of $3,250 compared to $2,250 for tile countertops. Granite is also harder to DIY than tile, given its weight and bulk, which increases the overall labor cost of installation. Over time, both types of countertops may need sealing to remain resistant to water, heat, and other common kitchen elements.
