"Some people might think $85.00 is too much to charge to unlock a vehicle. Although a person should consider these factors: first, he traveled about 40 miles/ about a hour drive to reach my home. Not all locksmiths would have done this. Second, VW's are notoriously hard to unlock, some locksmiths will not even work on them. Third, prior to contacting Mr. Lock, I had contacted the local (Greencastle) locksmith who tried a couple of methods, but gave up after approximately 30 minutes. To his credit, he didn't charge me anything since he wasn't able to unlock the car. Garth, on the other hand continuously tried different tools and methods until he found the correct combination to unlock the car. Which sounds really simple right? Not even close, Garth worked a solid 2.5 hours but refused to let the lock win :) . While I did assist him in a minor capacity periodically , it was his skills and determination that was the key to success. As a result, I was very happy with the quoted price, his level of professionalism, the promptness and quality of service. I would not hesitate to use Mr. Lock again and would highly recommend them. "

Lock bumping is a technique locksmiths use to quickly and quietly open a pin tumbler lock, typically found in most types of deadbolts. It involves inserting a specially crafted key, or bump key, into the lock and tapping or "bumping" it with a mallet or similar tool. The force applied causes the lock's pins to jump momentarily, allowing the lock to be turned and opened. Unfortunately, thieves also use this technique to break into homes. Luckily, products like a deadbolt strap will fortify your lock.
Smart deadbolts are a worthwhile investment for homeowners seeking more convenience, flexibility, and advanced features than a traditional deadbolt can provide. While a strong conventional deadbolt offers sufficient security for most, smart deadbolts provide significant upgrades.
Key benefits include keyless entry via smartphone, keypads, or biometric sensors, and the ability to lock or unlock your door remotely. If part of the key is protruding out of the lock, you can use a pair of needle-nosed pliers or tweezers to gently turn the key in the lock to open the door. If the key is fully inserted into the lock, you may also be able to use a key extractor to help turn the key into the unlocked position.
But if the key breaks off halfway into the lock or you simply can’t reach it to help engage the unlocking mechanisms, you should probably call a professional.
If your key breaks in a lock, first remain calm and avoid forcing the broken piece further in. You may be able to remove it yourself if a portion of the key is still protruding from the lock. To aid removal, lubricate the keyhole with a graphite-based spray. Then, try using tools like pliers, tweezers, a bobby pin, or even a jigsaw blade to gently grasp and pull the broken piece out. If these methods don't work, you can't reach the key, or you're concerned about damaging the lock, it's best to call a professional locksmith for assistance.
