"The pictures do not really show how tedious this job was. These two men, associated with Ask Michael, gave me a quote to rehang a number of my kitchen cabinate doors. They had been badly done prior to my purchase of the house and were failing, to the point of falling off. They purchased the necessary hardware, came back the next day and did the installation. They were on time and worked until the job was finished. Their work quality and concern to get the work done correctly was top drawer. And they were honest, telling me the quote for materials was high, and revising their bill lower. Overall I was very happy and will use them again."

"Absolutely great guys. They installed ceramic tile floor in bathroom and did an amazing job! They worked quickly and cleaned up very nicely when finished. No, tiling over painted walls or wallpapered surfaces is generally not recommended. Textured surfaces and paints will affect the adhesive, possibly causing tiles to lift or fall off. Painted walls with a semi-gloss or high-gloss finish are particularly difficult for adding tiles. It’s wise to strip the paint first if you install the tiles to drywall, although it’s still best to opt for a cement backer board.

Ceramic tile can be slightly less expensive than porcelain pavers. You can find outdoor ceramic tile for as little as $1 per square foot, but high-end options tend to cost the same as porcelain.

To ensure an even and unbending surface to lay tiles on, you’ll typically need to put a subfloor under a tile floor. Fiber cement backboards are the most common choice, but using plywood is also possible. Don’t neglect this step, or you could risk water damage and grout or tiles prematurely cracking or crumbling, especially in an area with high foot traffic. 

Figure out how much tile you need by measuring the backsplash area. Measure the height and length in feet and multiply to get the square footage. Don’t make adjustments for outlets or small cutouts but subtract the square footage for windows or other large obstructions from the total. To account for waste, get 10% more than your calculation.

Porcelain countertops have a fairly long life span, sometimes lasting for decades. Depending on how much wear and tear you put your countertops through, it could last 25 to 50 years.
