Yes, you can seal asphalt before it’s fully cured but you should wait to do so until at least three months after installing it. You can also choose to add a fill-and-seal layer that includes a layer of aggregate to fortify a damaged top layer of asphalt.

Oil-based sealers generally offer longer results for driveways in cold climates. If you experience extreme temperatures, oil sealants offer a level of flexibility that makes them expand and contract along with the freeze-thaw cycle instead of cracking.
