In addition, gently cleaning windows with film can increase their longevity. If your window film doesn’t come with an installation kit and its own application solution, you can make your own—but don’t use soap! Instead, use 1 teaspoon of baby shampoo mixed with a gallon of bottled water. Make sure the bucket in which you mix this solution is completely clean.

Tinting your windows can provide many benefits, like added security, privacy, safety, and protection from UV rays. However, not all window tinting serves all of those purposes, so before you commit to a type, make sure you understand the benefits it offers. 

For example, security windows don't typically offer much in the way of UV protection, but they're ideal for protecting your home from intruders. Meanwhile, ceramic window tints won't prevent glass from breaking like security windows, but they provide ample protection from UV rays in addition to heat absorption capabilities. 

Do not use Windex or any glass cleaner when applying window film. These products contain ammonia, which will damage the film. Instead, use the application solution provided with the installation kit.
