"We needed to replace support posts and have new railing installed on our front porch. I spoke/texted with Tim with measurements and photos. He came out to get a good look and I received a very fair quote. The work was started promptly. George and his crew were very professional and we are VERY happy with the end result. They got the job done in 1 day. We plan on having more work done inside the house and feel very confident about hiring them again. They do it all. If you have a project, don't hesitate to call them. "Amazing transformation! The deck was completed in about 7 hours. I originally wanted a few planks replaced, power-washed, and painted. It was determined to be best to replace all of the wood after examining the deck. It is so beautiful, I can hardly believe it. It's like I blinked my eye and there it was! See for yourself!"

Small jobs welcome

"Trent from Sipich Construction and his friend worked for days sanding, cleaning and painting our deck. He did a beautiful job and even came back another day to make sure we were happy with what heâ  d done. The deck is beautiful! We also asked him to paint a door, fix a garage door and opener, and install two railings. He bought most all the supplies for us and sanded and stained the railings. He is a very conscientious worker besides being a kind person with a good sense of humor. I would not hesitate to hire him again. In fact, there is another project which we have already discussed."

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

For the best results, stay off of your deck for at least 48 hours after sealing it. Giving the sealant at least two full days to cure ensures it can fully penetrate the wood, giving you the most protection from sun and weather damage later on. Walking on the deck too soon can prevent it from properly curing and cause your deck to weather prematurely.

Yes, pressure washing a wood deck can be a good idea as it effectively lifts ingrained dirt, mold, and mildew, improving the deck's appearance and longevity. However, it must be done carefully, as it's easy to damage the wood, especially softwoods. To pressure wash safely, use a lower pressure setting and a wide, 40-degree fan pattern nozzle (often white). Keep the nozzle at least a foot away from the wood surface and maintain constant motion, avoiding hovering in one spot to prevent gouging.

Expect to spend around $10,000 to $11,000 to replace a 20-by-20-foot deck. Using high-end materials like composite or exotic hardwoods can drive up the cost, as can custom features and design elements. You can also expect to pay more than average if your deck replacement requires a site evaluation or if you need the work done during the busy season.

Composite decking requires a solid foundation or substructure for support. This base is typically a frame composed of posts, beams, joists, and footings. The frame can be built from various materials, such as composite, plastic, timber, or metal, depending on your budget, deck type, and environmental conditions. For maximum stability, a professional deck builder may recommend installing this frame on top of a solid concrete base. It is best to discuss the most suitable substructure design and materials for your specific project with a professional.

Your deck may pop, and your neighbor’s deck may not for a number of reasons. Whether or not a deck pops will depend on how it was made, the conditions it’s exposed to, and the materials. Improper spacing is a common reason for increased pressure between deck boards. Moisture penetration is another.
