"The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

"The technician did an excellent job. It did take a while to get the repair finished, but that was due to Bertazzoni delivering the parts. I have had multiple problems with this particular appliance. My range now works better than it did when new, but I have a feeling that even if I have continuing problems with it, American Home Shield will just repair rather than replace due to the cost of the range. By the way, I'm not exactly sure of the date of the repair."

"We had decided to reroof and side our home and had gotten several estimates from other companies, Honey Creek Contracting came out and gave us not only an estimate but advice and ideas as well. Every day they were on site the guys were extremely polite and cheerful. I enjoyed them being there, they were very hard working and patient, never getting angry of frustrated when something went wrong... and with my old dilapidated house there were lots of unexpected problems, yet they tackeled every one with a positive note and a good solution. The job took longer than they expected but they were very detailed and and neat up to the very last moment. To say they left it cleaner than they found it would be an understatement. We are planning to do a room addition in the future and I will call NO ONE else for estimates... Honey Creek Contracting has our business from now on."

"James did an amazing job on the kitchen, bath, flooring, and windows. I wish I would have done this years ago!! He is very knowledgeable and patient explaining the process and the questions we asked. His wife put in extra work to save us money and make our dollar go further. We have already booked them for the bedrooms and barn. I give them a 10 out of 10!!"

Home Building questions, answered by experts

Modular homes can go up or down in value depending on a few factors. In areas where real estate is appreciating, the value of modular homes is likely to increase, and vice versa. Additionally, the value of modular homes depends partially on the area. In cities where every other home is stick-built, modular homes might be considered a functional obsolescence, in which case they could be less desirable and go down in value. In either case, though, modular homes can still be a good investment, especially since they provide housing at a lower upfront cost.

A-frame homes are on the smaller side. While there’s no set square footage amount it has to be, it will usually come in around 1,000 square feet or smaller.

A carriage house is a freestanding building, while a townhouse is connected to other units. A townhouse is a full single-family home and typically shares a parcel of land with other connected homes. A carriage house is rarely used as the sole single-family home on a property and is most often an additional building sharing property with a traditional single-family home.

Framing is often the most expensive phase of building a house because it’s time-consuming and requires a lot of materials. It costs between $20,000 and $50,000 on average, depending on materials and labor costs. Before construction begins, it’s possible that purchasing land is the priciest step in the process. Some plots of land sell for $3,000, while others cost upwards of $150,000.

Ultimately, a work warranty is only as reliable as the contractor you’ve hired. That’s why trust and reputation are such important factors, in addition to having a solid contract and confirming appropriate licensing, insurance, and bonding. When looking for a contractor, it’s a good idea to read online reviews and ratings to see what kind of experience past customers have had. Issues with your contractor can make for an unsatisfying renovation process, but a reliable contractor can make the process go as smoothly as possible.
