"I had front stairs that needed to be repaired and railings that were in need of replacement. I had been looking for a contractor to do this work for over a year. After my initial request, I was able to receive a quote the same day and the work was started the next day. The railings that were there were high quality and were able to have the feet that were fully rusted replaced, the rust and old paint removed and everything repainted beautifully. I also had a light replaced on the front of the house. I highly recommend this team for communication, reliability, reasonable prices and great work!!"

"Greg and his team were very timely in the initial quote and scheduling the work. The project was the replacement of the floor and painting of one bathroom and removing wallpaper, placing an access door in the wall for plumbing access and painting another bathroom. They also installed a new toilet in one bathroom and moved a toilet from one bathroom to the other. The team was on time and when they were running late they texted to advise of the delay. The wallpaper in one bathroom had been installed by a previous owner directly to the drywall and caused some roughness on the walls. Greg helped me to find a solution to fixed the roughness and repaint. I was able to renovate two bathrooms for the about the price of one bathroom based on a quote from another provider that I had previously contacted. I would recommend them and will be calling them in future for other renovations."

Awnings questions, answered by experts

Costs depend on material type, design complexity, and additional features like lighting or gutters.

The main disadvantage of an awning window is that you can’t use it to escape in an emergency. Another disadvantage of awning windows is that they can get dirty quicker than other types of windows that don’t open outward, especially if you keep them open when it’s raining or snowing. You can hire a local window replacement installer to decide if an awning window is right for your home.

The average cost to build a pergola ranges from $2,200 to $6,400, whereas the average cost of an awning ranges from $1,400 to $4,400, meaning that an awning tends to be less expensive to build or install than a pergola. Ultimately, the less expensive option depends on a few factors, including size, quality of materials used, and location.

The longest-lasting awning materials include vinyl, polycarbonate, and polyester for their durability and cleanability. Other materials like canvas and metal can last a long time, but may wear out faster. The key to getting the longest life from your awning material is to maintain it properly by cleaning yearly, keeping debris from gathering on it, and protecting it during stormy weather or high winds by retracting it or moving it to a protected area.

A retractable awning won’t necessarily increase your home’s value very much, but it can offer a boost of aesthetic appeal to potential buyers. In the long-term, however, a well-placed awning will save you money on cooling and protect your deck and outdoor furniture from sun exposure during the hot summer season.
