We specialize in all of your Flooring installation and tear out needs. Including Hardwood, Manufactured Hardwood, Laminate, Vinyl and Peel and stick tiles! We serve all of Northern IL. and Southern Wis. We provide FREE ESTIMATES and we're FULLY INSURED!

"All interaction and work was done by Pete. Reasons for our rating: - His initial materials estimate was way off. He said we would need: 2 Reducers and 2 T-molds. We actually needed: 0 Reducers, 5 T-molds, and 2 Stair Noses. So we had to make multiple trips back to the box store for purchases and exchanges. - He did not finish the work we paid him for! We had to buy an additional transition piece (because his estimate was incorrect) and he never came back to install it. After contacting him multiple times over a month and a half and expressing my frustration that it wasn't done, he said "if you would of had all your materials when I started the job, it would of been done a month and a half ago." I would have had all the materials if the estimate was correct... - He had given us an estimate and agreed to do our stairs. The online material order arrived later than expected. But 2 months passed and he never came to install it. I contacted him numerous times asking when he could come finish the stairs. He initially responded with excuses "I'm sick." "I'm behind schedule." Then finally texted me "you would prolly be better off looking for someone else to do them." - He broke a floor tile in our tiled entry way. He did not tell us about it until I contacted him to ask what happened. After it was clear that he was not returning to finish the work in our home, I reminded him that he had agreed to reimburse us for getting the tile replaced. He was initially very reluctant and argued with me about it. But he eventually sent a money order. - I came home to find a very visible amount of blood smeared on the white door frame after he installed our bathroom flooring. Disgusting that he didn't bother to clean that up. - excessive swearing (including F-word) during work - cigarette butt left in the driveway - installed at least one damaged plank - installed at least two planks that visibly have his permanent marker marks on - I had to ask him to fix some areas where the gap the left between the flooring and drywall was too large Overall extremely unprofessional. Spend more money to have a reputable company do your work!"

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Carpet installation costs include carpet type (material, weave), room size, subfloor preparation, and labor costs. Getting multiple quotes provides a clearer picture of expected expenses.

No, when done correctly, removing the tile shouldn’t damage the subfloor. However, if there was pre-existing damage to the subfloor from standard use or lack of maintenance, the subfloor may need repairs. For example, if the contractors notice mold growth on the subfloor or an uneven surface, you may need more extensive services before installing new tile.

If you DIY tile removal, remove the tiles one step at a time, individually removing the tile, grout, and mortar to prevent unnecessarily damaging the subfloor. Depending on the age of your home, consider having a professional inspect the subfloor to ensure it’s in good enough condition to lay new tile.

Yes, carpeted stairs are safer because carpet helps reduce the chances of slips and falls compared to harder materials like wood, vinyl, tile, or steel staircases, which lack the friction needed for a secure tread. And, if you do happen to fall, carpeted stairs also have more cushioning in the case of an accident.

In most cases, carpeting isn’t kind to the wood that it’s attached to. Most carpet installation uses adhesive or nailing strips, both of which will damage wood. Conversely, you can choose to use an adhesive designed to be removed from wood, in which case carpeting can actually protect your hardwood stairs.

Yes. Many manufacturers make stair treads that you can install over carpeted stairs without needing to do any cutting or drilling. Stair treads can also be installed on wood, marble, and other stair surface materials. Just be sure to double-check the information for the specific product you’re buying to ensure its adhesive or installation process will work with the type of stairs you have.
