We had contracted Matrix in February to finish our basement, our salesman did a very good job taking the time to lay everything out give us our options and meet our vision the follow-up appointment to finalize went well and the gentleman really had a good knowledge of everything that needed to be done. The biggest problem we had was with the project manager and some of the trades that were brought in. The framers and finish carpenters did a wonderful job however the failures were many and project management was substandard for spending over six figures on a project. The damage that was caused to the finished portion of our house, walls, door jams garage door frame and other building errors that were made on electrical and plumbing were not addressed or handled appropriately unless I had said something to our project manager . Even then they just ignored my request and I had to pay my own painter to fix the damages that Matrix caused . The overall mismanagement of the project is what brought me to the point where I had to be the intermediary for the trades as the project manager was never on site or didn't pick up or return calls in any sort of Timely manner. This is what I am paying Matrix to handle and clearly that fell short! They framed the tub incorrectly leaving gaps where the wall studs didn't get to the ceiling, electrical switch boxes that were not secured so when the spray foam was installed and pushed the box out of the way causing repairs needed to be made, the plumber installed the wrong color drain and glued it in place they're causing an issue where if they tried to remove it and snapped the pipe under the tub they would have to gut the bathroom again and we were on a tight timeline as we were getting married the week after the project was supposed to be completed. When they sprayed our ceiling the painter left four five gallon buckets uncovered in the basement causing the house to smell to the point where it was 90° outside and we had to leave all our windows open oh yes and by the way had we not covered them up after they left they would have had to buy all new materials. When the spray foam portion of the project was to take place we were told to have nobody in the home so we put the dogs in a kennel they were supposed to be there at 8:00 a.m. they did not show up till 3:45 p.m. not getting completed till almost 9:00. "They did a poor job. Within 3 months, plants started growing in between the asphalt. The company refuses to come fix it and is adamant it is done correctly against seal coating companies saying that it is poorly done. I was informed to seal coat the aspahlt within 3 months/in fall, and the driveway didnt last that long. He refuses to give me the terms and conditions to the "warranty" on the driveway despite several times asking. He only picks up responses to getting paid and accepting work. Also do not view the "estimate", it is a trick to get you to accept their work. Communication is difficult with this company unless its about giving them money. Would not recommend."

"After a year of working with us, Marc designed the perfect home for our family. He spent significant time on site to get to know the space and spoke to us frequently to ensure his design met our hopes and dreams. His final design is visually stunning and maximizes space use in a way that reflects both the history of the home and modern preferences. His expertise in Chicago building code and city offices was instrumental in our project being approved quickly. He reviewed bids with us to ensure we selected a GC who could do the job and had competitive pricing. He regularly met and emailed with the GC and suppliers to address issues as they arose during the job so that all were resolved to our satisfaction. Throughout it all, he was just a nice guy to work with during a process that can be very stressful."

"The quality of the work was poor, the sod was laid and not rolled out which is preventing the sod from catching and causing the lawn to look uneven, the grass seed/ dirt was spread sporadically over the front lawn without focusing on the bare spots which was the ultimate goal of the seeding. (for treatment/solution to holes in the lawn to promote grass growth in those areas.) Also there was very little grass seeds or dirt spread to back lawn. I brought this to Kevin's attention and he said he would take care of it and that he ran out of dirt, also his response to my calls or e-mails was not timely or not at all. I called and text him on several occasions requesting that he comes to complete the job and he never showed up to complete the job as promised. I also feel the additional cost he charged ($1500) to lay 4 to 5 rolls of sod for 20 ft. x 24 ft. area (480 sq. ft.) , was over priced and he took advantage of me and I am a victim of price gouging. His initial quote he gave me was 3400 (for the seeding, retainer wall removal, aeration, power raking, cutting the grass, plant 1 bush) but I just noticed he has put 3500 on the contract so even in that instance I paid him $100 more than what was agreed upon. The contract that he wanted me to sign was very extensive and "construction focused" and did not address everything we had discussed for this project. It basically was an agreement to ensure payment and cover himself if I did not pay. When I noticed the contract did not list line by line description of the scope of the work I brought that to his attention and asked him to include what the job would intel ( work order) listing what we had talked about. He told me he would bring it when he came to do the job. I didn't receive anything, but he had already came to to start the job. By the time he finally came to start the job I had received a warning from the village due to my grass had grown more then 5 inches waiting for him to come and take care of cutting the grass when he was to start the project. The overall communication and follow up with this company is not good and they do not provide detailed scope of work orders even when requested."

"Michael has not shown up for the 10am appointment per Giovanni who contacted me yesterday and scheduled the appointment. It is now 11am. No one call or follow up at all. Waited for an hour and no show. This is not how business works. Can't trust your company already since you can't even committee a simple appointment. Very disappointed and waisted my valuable time. Please don't call my number anymore. I would give no star but not an option. Highly NOT recommended!!"
