"Had sewer issues for years and finnaly found a plumber who could find the problem, show me on a sewer camera, and resolve the problem at a fair price and quickley. Also did plumbing for new bathroom in basement! "
"Seepage Issue Prior To Work Done We had a minor seepage issue in 3-4 areas of our basement. Minor meaning small puddles of water develop if and only if we get heavy and long rain storms. The house was built in 1929 and did not have a sump pump or pit. Down the road, we plan to finish the basement, eventually my wife and I agreed to commit to fixing the seepage issue and this is where the story starts. ( Short story: Brian, his crew, and overall integrity is excellent, I highly recommend Crawlspace/Basement Waterproofing Solutions. They will sell you what you need and they will make sure you are happy.) Long Story (I recommend reading): In the beginning......Getting Quotes I consider myself to be above average DIY person however fixing seepage is not in my skill set. I had no idea how much money would be required to fix our seepage issue. My expectation was $3000-$4000. First we had US Waterproofing out. They sent a salesman which for me is an immediate turn off. The salesman was okay but not impressive....to be honest more then a little rough. In the end, he gave us a quote that was $8000.00. This was surprisingly and uncomfortably large sum of money plus in my opinion, the proposed seepage solution was in my opinion a solution for a severe seepage problem. My opinion, up selling; selling me too much. Side note, they did offer financing options that were good. (total time at least 1.5 hours) With the US Waterproofing quote in hand, for the next 1-2 week my wife and I continued to discuss the situation. I was really bummed about the 8k. Eventually, I got my head together and thankfully did not commit to US Waterproofing. Instead we put their quote aside and called Perma-Seal. Perma-Seal came out. Another salesman another immediate turn off. However, the salesman was great. He gave a very impressive presentation that covered the company, recommended products to solve our seepage issue, and what the process would be to solve our seepage issue. In the end, he first proposed a solution that was super over the top, I believe it was $10,000.00. After reminding him money is tight and I want a solution for the specific areas of the basement, his second proposed solution was $7900.00. Not good. Too much money and my gut feeling continued, up selling; selling to much. Side note, they did offer financing options that were good however it was simply to much money to commit to. (total time at least 1.5 hours) With US Waterproofing quote and Perma-Seal quote in hand and little depression (on my part), my wife and I took another 1-2 weeks to talk. I almost committed to a quote but thankfully I did not. Eventually I got me head together again. I joined Angie's List. Reviewed the basement seepage businesses in the area by rank and found Crawlspace/Basement Waterproofing Solutions ranked #2. This was a bit exciting. I read a few reviews and got even more excited, there was 1 or 2 reviews that seemed to reflect my situation; everyone wants to sell me cashmere when I am confident I only need cotton. So I called Crawlspace/Basement Waterproofing Solutions. Brian the owner and crew chief (immediately impressed) came over to inspect and propose a solution/quote. He gave us a quote for exactly what we needed and it was quick and easy. Side note, I did tell him I had the other two quotes but I did not show or tell him the numbers and did not tell him our money is tight. His quote $2800.00. WOW! (total time: 40 min) My wife and I were so happy however I was a bit worried, two businesses quote me $8000 and this guy wants $2800?!?!. To be clear, the $2800 was for installing a sump pump it, sump pump, the drainage system from pit to outside, drainboards on the walls, trench and install drain tile inside basement, concrete the drain tile inside basement, and cementing my ugly/nasty crawlspace. His work comes with a warranty for the life of the home and is transferable to the next owner. After committing to Brian, 4 days later he arrived with his crew as scheduled. The crew completed the project in 1.5 days as planned. During the 1.5 days I closely monitored the crew's work and chatted with them. Additional, I had a few long chats with Brian. The entire team is excellent. Happy, polite, personable, and hard working. I was very impressed with the team. When the work was completed, Brian called be twice to ensure we where happy with the work. There was a very minor cosmetic issue that I mentioned. Brian immediately setup a guy to come out in 1-2 business days.......the minor issue was fixed (no charge). Since the completion, we have had 3 long extra heavy rain storms. No water in basement! YES! Wife and I are very happy. Additional Notes About Brian and His Guys: Extra work was done and we were not charged. Brian is personable, 100% kept all promises, sold us what we needed, fun, and maintains a hard working and happy team. Call Brian! Do it! "
"Our house had a water damage that ruined much of the drywall and floor on the first floor and the basement. For such a big repair job, I carefully looked up the reviews and recommendations from Angie's list and talked to 3 contractors that have the highest ratings. AOM was one of the three. David, the owner of AOM, quickly came to our house, assessed the damage, explained to me what need to be done, showed great empathy to our loss and current situation (having to stay in hotel waiting to go back to our house), and put a very competitive bid (about 2/3 the bid of another contractor). We picked them and signed the contract. AOM uses Trello, a cloud-based project tracking system that software companies often use, to effectively and promptly communicate task description and updates to all workers and house owners. AOM workers are professional, hard working, and friendly. For such a big project, expectedly there were some hiccups and AOM had to juggle ours with their other on-going projects. David kindly explained to me various aspects of the repair work and promptly fixed any faults that we identified. I became to completely trust David's professional skill and that he would treat our house like his. Several nights and weekends David came to work late so that we could move back to normal life as soon as possible. In the end, we are very happy with our remodeled house. I sincerely recommend David and AOM for any house remodeling and restoration job."

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."
"15 yrs ago , i left my full time job to pursue my dream of being a self-employed Contractor and was welcomed with open arms by my community and fellow contractors which led to my success as a contractor. Recently my wife and I wanted to remodel our master bathroom , and we decided to look for a start-up company and return the same chance we were given when I took the leap myself. Upon searching we met Jacob and Eric with GMI in Colp , Illinois. From the first meeting with these guys , I knew they were the right choice for us. We met and discussed what we were thinking for our project , we agreed on everything and gave them the greenlight to get started. From start to finish , we were beyond impressed with the level of respect and professionalism that they not only showed to our home , but our family as well , including our 2 children that asked a million questions a day !! We look forward to working with these guys again in the near future , my wife and I both Highly Recommend GMI for any of your Home Improvement needs , and I personally look forward to following the future of their business and watching what they accomplish. Top Notch Guys , Top Notch Work !!!"

Storm Drain Installation questions, answered by experts
Yes, it is possible to have both a storm and security door. In fact, this is the best way to go for enhanced protection against intruders and the elements. The storm door will provide weather resistance and added energy efficiency, while the security door will offer maximum protection against break-ins.
Installation begins with removing existing doors if necessary, measuring, and accurately fitting the storm door frame and panel for a tight seal.
Yes, installing or replacing a storm door is a manageable DIY project, especially for those with experience replacing regular doors. Many modern storm doors feature simple, pre-hung designs and come with the necessary hardware, making installation more convenient. With basic tools, a DIY installation is possible, though professional services can ensure proper alignment and weatherproofing. On average, installing a pre-hung storm door takes about four hours.
Instead of a security door, you might opt for a heavy-duty screen door made from durable mesh, which allows better sunlight and airflow. Additionally, you could enhance security by installing strong locks on your existing door. A double-cylinder deadbolt provides robust security; however, be aware that some local laws prohibit them due to safety concerns during emergencies.
There are several types of storm doors, including vinyl-clad, steel-clad, aluminum, and wood-core, and each type has its own benefits. For example, vinyl-clad storm doors are excellent at keeping out water, while steel-clad storm doors hold up well against high winds. There are also multiple styles of storm doors, ranging from full-view (made entirely of glass) to high-view (with just a small glass panel).
