I've owned and operated Basin View Landscape since 1991 and have a total of 28 years experience in the Greens Industry to include wholesale / retail nursery, landscape construction & irrigation instillation and lawn & sprinkler maintenance / repair. I am thorough in explanation of services to be rendered to match customers expectation as to completed work. I bill at end of job when customer is satisfied. I rarely ask for material deposits except for decking, pergola and patio work. I except checks, offer payment plans and aid my customer base with coupons and discounts offers. We can do pretty much anything outside the home and if I don't do it... then I have relationships with good sub-contractors do.

We are professionally trained in all phases of horticulture, landscaping and design, but our more unique skills include creating sculpted stone, (This is the art of using concrete as a sculpting media to build features that can stand up to the test of time). We are experts at casting and mold making. We mold natural rock outcroppings, waterfalls, and even corals. We have approximately 200 different coral molds that we are able to replicate perfectly. We cast many other materials such as wood, sculptures, bronze, and even people. We sculpt in many medias to get realistic results in forms such as realistic trees, pirate ships, large timbers, wood trim, cut stone, bamboo, even glass. We create entire coral reefs for your aquirum, bamboo for a privacy screen, and supports for a pergolla. We combine natural materials along side artificial, this allows us to create using the best of both worlds. Water is our passion. We build many features every year that are unlike any in the valley. Most of our work is somehow involving water. Many landscapers build waterfalls as a side line. We work with it everyday. Cleaning, controling, and maintaing water in hundreds of different ways. Even if you have a simple pond and waterfall that has an issue, don't you want someone who is completely dedicated to your water rather than as a sideline to work with it?

Mulch and Topsoil questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can put new mulch over old mulch, since it’s decomposable. The only reason you should remove old mulch before laying new mulch would be to maintain a certain aesthetic.

Some drawbacks of forestry mulching include leaving behind a thick mulch layer, not being suitable for extremely rocky areas, creating conditions that attract pests, and not being able to fully remove large trees and stumps. You may need to pay extra to have larger trees felled and stumps ground in order to fully clear your land.

Mulching any time of year can attract termites, so there’s no added risk in the fall. The important thing to remember is that termites are attracted to rotting wood, so you need to lay a thin enough layer that won’t trap too much moisture and lead to rotting. A layer between 1 and 4 inches thick should provide all the benefits you’re looking for without attracting termites.

Gravel’s biggest pro is its cost-effectiveness. For example, a gravel road or driveway is much more affordable than its asphalt counterpart. Gravel is also much less expensive than the cost of pouring a concrete slab if you’re building a patio or similar structure.

However, regarding comfort and convenience, gravel is far less foot-friendly than smoother substances like concrete or asphalt. It’s also more of a challenge to drive on and may kick up dust, resulting in the inevitable need for extra car washes. Lastly, there’s a chance it might move with rain or snow.

Topsoil should go down first. If the topsoil is next to your house, make sure the grade slopes away from the house to keep water from pooling against your foundation and possibly leaking into your basement or crawl space. Don’t cover your decorative landscape mulch with topsoil as that defeats the purpose of laying down the mulch. If you’re trying to create a certain soil composition to improve plant growth, you’ll likely want compost mixed into the topsoil instead of mulch. Over time, any decorative wood mulch will simply decompose under the topsoil.
