At Kanndo we clean and repair homes and offices. We offer carpet, air duct, and gutter cleaning along with window washing. Handy man painting, house cleaning and if your are cleaning out the attic or basement we offer junk haul. We do just about everything except major electric and plumbing.

"Good and very helpful. Helped with (old) carpet removal even though that wasn’t part of the original request. Will hire them again."

Mulch and Topsoil questions, answered by experts

Yes, you need to add topsoil before you hydroseed to ensure the roots can grow deep. You should cultivate and add compost or amendments to your soil before hydroseeding for optimal growth. Without topsoil, your hydroseed might not take root, leading to wasted effort and money down the drain. Soil preparation is key to the success of DIY hydroseeding.

Some drawbacks of forestry mulching include leaving behind a thick mulch layer, not being suitable for extremely rocky areas, creating conditions that attract pests, and not being able to fully remove large trees and stumps. You may need to pay extra to have larger trees felled and stumps ground in order to fully clear your land.

Mulching any time of year can attract termites, so there’s no added risk in the fall. The important thing to remember is that termites are attracted to rotting wood, so you need to lay a thin enough layer that won’t trap too much moisture and lead to rotting. A layer between 1 and 4 inches thick should provide all the benefits you’re looking for without attracting termites.

A good driveway should have a solid base layer and a smooth surface layer of gravel. A base layer of larger gravel, around 1 to 2 inches, keeps the foundation stable and helps with drainage. For the top layer, smaller gravel, about 1/4 to 1/2 inches, compacts well and creates an even surface that’s easier to drive on. Using both ensures the driveway stays durable, drains properly, and doesn’t shift over time.

If you have a lot of trees around your home, mulching all those leaves can smother the lawn. Air and light won't reach the grass and soil if too many leaves have been mulched. Turf grass and other lawn problems can arise if the weather is too wet and excessive leaves have been mulched.
