We provide concrete flatwork such as driveways, sidewalks, patios, steps and more at an affordable cost to you. We are a small family run company. Over 10 years of concrete experience.

"Without discussing it with us Jacob Cowman changed our driveway approach eliminating the existing contour to the curb that held the surrounding dirt from falling into the driveway. This leaves our driveway 6" lower than the surrounding ground which will require us to hire another concrete contractor to fix it or for us to remove a lot of dirt to level it out. When asked about it he said the city made him do it like that, which was not true as the neighbors did the exaxt same work on the exact same day and their professional contractor did not make that change. When asked to fix it he said it wouldn't hurt us to fix it ourselves. He verbally told me the price was $2000. ripped out our concrete and then said it was $2600 to finish the job. He left the work site without anything for safety to block off the hole he left after excavating. I had to go to Menards after work and buy caution tape myself and put it up so somone would not get hurt."

Decorative Concrete questions, answered by experts

Yes, adding water to concrete will increase its slump, so you should do so with caution. Always measure the slump of the concrete batch before you adjust it, and be sure not to add too much and push the slump too high. Doing so can cause the aggregate to separate, set inconsistently, or shrink.

You will know concrete is fully cured after 28 days when the new concrete reaches its maximum strength. Follow the cure time information on the manufacturer’s label or ask your concrete pro about when your concrete is fully cured. You can drive your concrete once it’s partially cured, usually around seven days after it’s poured. After one week, the concrete is strong enough to hold up to regular-size vehicles.

The main ingredients to make concrete are cement, water, air, and aggregate for proper formation. Mixing concrete occurs just before use to ensure proper curing after it is combined with water. Cement, however, is the key ingredient to concrete, and includes a collection of natural binding elements and sand, clay, and limestone.

A floating slab is a single chunk of concrete that sits directly on flat soil, while a monolithic slab is a single piece of concrete that includes built-in footings that reach several feet below where the majority of the slab sits. Monolithic slabs provide more support, so they’re suitable for home construction, whereas floating slabs get minimal support from the soil directly below and are more common under sheds and detached garages.

You can dry pour concrete over existing concrete, but it’s best to use wet pour concrete instead. Dry pour concrete is easier to apply, but in order for new concrete to adhere to old concrete, it needs the right mixture for slow, uniform curing. Additionally, dry pour concrete is less durable and less resistant to cracking and concrete sinking, so dry pouring over an existing slab may result in surface imperfections appearing prematurely.
