"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

"Chris Barron did an exceptional job on my window repair. I called around to several window repair companies but everyone of them corkscrew do what I needed to have done. Their websites would say window frame or still repair but when they called, they would try to sell you window replacements. Chris is the ONLY one who actually did repairs. He was able to fit me into his schedule because I needed the work done ASAP."

Small jobs welcome

"Ashley and Larry were wonderful. I called - in a panic - and they were so professional and kind. They came out same day, in bad weather, and replaced a broken toilet for a very reasonable price. I will definitely use their services again for repairs and projects big and small."

Doors questions, answered by experts

French doors can either open inward or outward, but because hinges are the mechanism for opening and closing, a single set of French doors will not be able to do both. Most French doors only open outward onto a patio, deck, or porch, while some only open inward if the outdoor space is limited and can’t accommodate the open doors.

Professionals guarantee a secure fit, weatherproofing, and enhanced curb appeal.

You can often fit a new door slab into an old frame as long as the frame’s in decent shape. The frame needs to be solid, square, and free of warping or rot. The new door has to match the old one in width, height, and thickness, and the hinge and knob placements need to line up or be adjusted carefully. However, if your frame is damaged, swapping just the door won’t cut it. In that case, replacing the entire unit would be the best move for a smooth, secure installation.

Spacing a door is tricky since you need to leave enough of a gap for the door to move freely and not get stuck when the slab and frame contract and expand in dry and humid conditions. The ideal gap between a doorframe and slab is 1/8 of an inch. If the gap is any larger, the door will feel drafty. But if the gap is any smaller, the slab can get stuck due to weather changes.

A fire door can cost anywhere from $400 to $1,350 to purchase and have installed. The cost comes from the price of the door, which can be anywhere from $400 to $900 or more, and the cost of labor, which should be contracted out considering that fire doors are a safety measure. Most contractors will take between two and four hours to install one door.
