"Exceptional work!! I am thoroughly impressed with the level of professionalism and expertise demonstrated by Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. My Walk-In tub was installed in just 3 days! The tub leveling and faucets/dual drain installations were done expediently and accurately. I am very satisfied by the results. Having worked with several plumbing companies before, I can honestly say that the commitment to quality and customer satisfaction by Benjamin Franklin is second to none, from the initial consultation to the completion of the project. Highly recommended!!"

"I knew my issue was serious enough to call for professional help. I was contacted almost immediately by CHC Services and given a next day appointment. Upon their arrival (Pat and Jimmy) they ask the right questions and didn't laugh at my rutimental description of my plumbing condition. They went right to work replacing broken very old cast iron piping, which should I say had been broken for quite sometime...more than likely been broken for YEARS and draining below my slab flooring Anyway Pat and Jimmy worked diligently for approximately 2 to 3 hours... POOF my plumbing condition is all good. I would highly recommend CHC SERVICES. Ask for Pat and Jimmy they are very friendly, professional guys that know what they are doing."

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

To keep window wells from filling up with water, you need to stay on top of maintenance. Remove debris as it fills up, and regularly loosen the gravel at the base if it’s become compacted. You can also reslope your yard to make sure water flows away from the window well (and your home’s foundation), and you can even install a window well cover to prevent debris from building up. Installing an actual drainpipe at the base of the well can also prevent window well drainage problems.

Start by unscrewing the overflow valve, which is located on the wall of your tub between the floor drain and the tub spout. Gently insert a plumbing snake down into the pipe, move it back and forth, and pull it out. Remove any hair, debris, and soap scum that comes out with it. Repeat the process until the snake comes out clean, and then reinstall the cap on your overflow valve.

Even if the shower drain doesn’t seem clogged or dirty, plan to clean it out about once per month—or more frequently if you or your family shed a lot of hair. It’s a good practice to remove any hair from the drain on a daily basis, as hair can accumulate fast and cause clogs in no time. You may also want to have a plumber thoroughly clean the drains in your home once every six months.

The best drain cleaners are biodegradable ones or a mixture of baking soda and vinegar. Strong, caustic chemicals may seem appealing with promises of unclogging your drain quickly, but liquid drain cleaners can cause damage to your pipes over time. Consider making your own drain cleaner with baking soda and vinegar.

You should not attempt to snake your sewer yourself. Accessing and snaking your sewer requires heavy-duty equipment, and while renting is possible, misusing it can damage your sewer main and leave you with very expensive repair costs, not to mention potential environmental issues and severe water damage. Accessing your sewer also exposes you to hazardous sewer gasses, and failing to seal the sewer properly after work can be very dangerous. It’s always best to hire a professional sewer cleaner near you to handle this type of work.
