"After a tornado dropped 2 large pine trees through the roof over a year ago, the original contractor's crews failed to repair the ceiling. If you prefer peel-and-stick to traditional wallpaper, you can skip the priming process. Many manufacturers don't require an additional primer if you’re installing peel-and-stick wallpaper to painted walls. However, if you’re applying peel-and-stick wallpaper to unfinished drywall, you’ll need to apply a primer first.

The two most common reasons wallpaper does not stick are a lack of preparation and improper adhesive. Be sure to use the wallpaper paste designed for the type of paper you choose. Before beginning your project, make sure the walls are clean and free of dust, grease, and oils.

We don’t recommend wallpapering over older paper. That’s because creating layers of glue can invite bubbling or excess moisture on the wall’s surface.
