"Beware of shipping issues with this company. Ordered an ice maker installation kit on 10/10/25. Shipping was due no later than 10/20 according to company and FedEx tracking. FedEx tracking showed the package at their facility for 8 days without moving beginning on 10/15. Called FedEx 3 times. Each time they said they cannot find package and I have to contact shipper. Shipper has to make a claim, they will not mark it as lost. Called Appliance Parts Pros twice. Each time they say FedEx has to mark package lost before they will do anything. They also state they have to wait 14 days from them before doing anything because of their contract with FedEx. I don't care about their contract, I want what was ordered and paid for. Just going in circles with them and FedEX. If they shipped after 14 days it would be 22 days from that point, 32 days from the date of order if they shipped it that day. "I wanted to write about our experiences with Cedrick Jones and Gold Star Adjusters. Our insurance company was planning to not pay us for major damage we sustained during a wind storm that hit our house around Feb 2020. Even though water came into the house and was inside the wall, they told us that the damages were only worth about $2K or so and that it would be a cheap fix and the amount conveniently was below our deductible threshold. Mr. Jones was able to force the insurance company to pay out more than enough money for us to hire professionals to come out and rebuild most of the interior and some of the exterior wall where the water was coming from. If it wasn't for him, we would have been on the hook for several thousands of dollars worth of repairs. Mr. Jones also took the time to look over our insurance policy to make sure that they hadn't hidden high deductibles on other items on our policy to prevent any future surprises. I wanted to let you know that Mr. Jones handled everything above and beyond the normal level of care and professionalism one would expect from an adjuster. He spent several hours at our home ensuring that any and all damages were fully accounted for and held the insurance company accountable for payment of the damage claims."

"Repair Clinic sent me a water intake valve that had some scuff marks and an unnecessary fixture (which I thought nothing of, assuming it had been removed from a new dishwasher). When the part did not fix my dishwasher's issue, I ordered a circulation pump, which also failed to fix the issue, so I decided to return both parts. Repair Clinic blamed me for the scuff marks and extra fixture, which is unacceptable. They referenced their return policy which states that parts which have been installed cannot be returned, and denied me any form of refund. For all I know, the water intake valve was defective, and I have no recourse. Don't put any stock in the "No-Hassle 365-Day Returns" they proudly tout on their homepage. Instead, expect finger-pointing and uncaring dismissal. You are better off with one of their many competitors."

There are several types of home radiators, and the most common are steam heat radiators, electric radiators, and dual-fuel radiators. Steam heat radiators are connected to a boiler. Electric radiators can operate without being connected to anything else—they just need an electrical outlet. If you have a dual-fuel radiator, you’ll see a valve at the bottom of the system with a wire coming out of it and going into a wall. These are often your towel radiators in the bathroom. The type of radiator you have will impact how you turn it on.

Steam boilers require flushing at least every six to 12 months to keep them operating effectively for as long as possible. Depending on your water quality and frequency of use, you might need to do this more frequently. The flushing process helps to remove problematic buildup of sediments. While a boiler contractor near you can perform a thorough annual flush, learning how to drain the system yourself means you can do this monthly if you experience speedy mineral accumulation because of hard water. 

Generally speaking, an oil furnace is safer than a gas furnace for a number of reasons. Both types create carbon monoxide, with the potential for deadly leaks, but it's easier to detect an issue with an oil furnace because you smell the problem almost immediately. Also, oil furnaces don’t connect to a pipeline, reducing the chances of a leak in the first place. Finally, heating oil is not combustible, and natural gas is, so there’s no chance of an explosion and a reduced chance of a fire with an oil furnace.

Always consult your manual for specific pressure numbers. Many expansion tanks come pre-pressurized at a specific PSI range, anywhere from 12 to 40 PSI, designed for a range of home boilers. You should not have to pressurize an expansion tank yourself, only the boiler system. If your system has a tank that needs to be manually pressurized, this is generally a job for professionals and their tools.
