"Mr . Cantrell was able to handle several orojects for me. He did everything I asked him to do. He built a privacy fence for me, updated the rails in my boat dock, replaced rotten wood on several steps and the deck floor, fix t he damage to my storage shed, pressure washed the house and porches and painted everything, built a small ramp and replaced concrete walkway to boathouse, repaired some of my inside doors."

The owner and workers were extremely professional.  The owner communicated regularly with us after providing a written program of work to be completed within a set timetable.  They didn't leave a mess and went above and beyond to produce an excellent finished cabin.  Would definitely use again.

Since we did not live in the house, we left immediately after paying the provider.  About three days later I did a more thorough inspection and noticed several items that were not completed or needed repair.  I emailed the provider and he has never responded.  Also, when I asked about the discount listed he said it was for pressure washing only. No discount was given.

Patio Covers questions, answered by experts

Besides the type of awning, you’ll need to choose the type of cover. Your awning installation professional will review your options with you, including availability and costs. The types of covers you can choose from include:

  • Wood, which is durable but can be damaged easily by rainwater and fire

  • Cotton offers flexibility, weatherproofing, and easy cleaning

  • Canvas is highly durable and is a good choice for retractable awnings

  • Metal is sturdy but is prone to rust

  • Polyester is easy to clean and is a more breathable option

  • Polycarbonate is highly resistant to UV rays and is difficult to damage

Durable materials suited for climate include aluminum for coastal areas or composite wood in varying environments for durability and minimal upkeep.

The longest-lasting awning materials include vinyl, polycarbonate, and polyester for their durability and cleanability. Other materials like canvas and metal can last a long time, but may wear out faster. The key to getting the longest life from your awning material is to maintain it properly by cleaning yearly, keeping debris from gathering on it, and protecting it during stormy weather or high winds by retracting it or moving it to a protected area.

The average cost to build a pergola ranges from $2,200 to $6,400, whereas the average cost of an awning ranges from $1,400 to $4,400, meaning that an awning tends to be less expensive to build or install than a pergola. Ultimately, the less expensive option depends on a few factors, including size, quality of materials used, and location.

Metal awnings last much longer than fabric thanks to their durability and resistance to fading, sun damage, and damage from the outside elements. They also need less maintenance than fabric options. Both items add curb appeal to your home, but you shouldn't expect either type of awning to add property value to your home.
