"I am writing this review as they are installing a new HVAC system in our home.  Our home burned down and the air handler needed to be replaced.  Galbreath is my contractor's preferred HVAC system subcontractor.
We had a new HVAC system installed by a different provider 6 months before the fire.  We received Galbreath's estimate, and they recommended that we resize the system because we are upgrading the house insulation to spray foam and the house needed less capacity.  Since I was surprised that I was going to have to come out of pocket for HVAC, I asked the company that previously installed a new HVAC system.  To make a long story short, the previous company behaved badly.  In contrast, Galbreath worked with us very patiently to get Georgia Power rebates and other benefits to reduce the cost.
We've run into some minor problems during the installation which were not Galbreath's fault.  First, I misunderstood the kind of ducting they were using.  I learned after doing my homework that their choice of ducting was absolutely right and I was wrong.  Second, due to the new configuration of our home (we took the ceilings up to the roofline which drastically reduced the space for the HVAC air handler and blocked most of the wall to the great room of the house with an alcove to display art work on one side of the wall and a loft in a bedroom on the other side), it has been very difficult to install ducts into the great room. Galbreath has been very patient in working through the issue and my contractor has determined an perfect way to get the job done.
I'm extremely impressed with the owner of this company.  He has been responsive, flexible, and really worked with us.  If that is any indication of the quality of their work, we are going to have a great system.  I greatly appreciate the fact that he did not bad mouth anyone, which seems rather common in this industry and in this market, and  instead sold us on his expertise, responsiveness, pricing, and expertise.
I will update if the system performs poorly, but I highly doubt that will the case.  Mr. Galbreath, thank you.

"Jim Farrell and North Alabama Technical Services rebuilt my computer and provided me with everything I expected and so much more.  He provided the various options in equipment, including specs and pricing, answered all our questions and helped us make the best decision for our purchases.  The computer was completed in a few days, far less than expected, the installation included clear directions for use.  The package also included a good warranty for the equipment.  I was extremely pleased with his service and would not hesitate to recommend his company to anyone with computer service needs."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Generally, an oil furnace is considered safer than a gas furnace for several reasons. While both types of furnaces can produce carbon monoxide, a leak in an oil furnace is easier to detect due to the smell. Oil furnaces also don't connect to a gas pipeline, which reduces the chance of a fuel leak. Most importantly, heating oil is not combustible, whereas natural gas is highly flammable. This means there is a much lower risk of combustion or explosion with an oil furnace. However, an oil furnace can still pose a fire hazard if it tips over.

Chilled water HVAC systems use water instead of traditional components and refrigerants. They're more common in commercial settings than residential ones but are slowly being adopted by some homebuilders to cool homes. As the name implies, the system keeps the water chilled at 40 degrees and circulates it through water coils. The water absorbs the heat from your home and drains outdoors. Condo apartments are more likely to have chilled water HVAC than single-family homes because this system is designed to cool several rooms or large areas individually.

The primary differences between a heat pump and a boiler are their function and how they produce heat. A heat pump is a versatile system that provides both heating and cooling by moving ambient air and altering its temperature. In contrast, a boiler is solely a heating system, often working with a furnace or AC unit as part of a larger HVAC system. In terms of heat production, a heat pump generates heat more slowly and at a lower temperature, requiring a large convector for distribution. A boiler, however, produces a large amount of high-temperature heat that it emits through smaller radiators.

Since your boiler keeps you warm and provides hot water to your home, you’re likely to notice issues with heating in your living space right away. The most obvious sign that your boiler is breaking is not getting any heat or hot water. You might also hear some odd sounds coming from your boiler during operation, the flame in your gas boiler is not blue, the pressure is inconsistent, or your boiler is using more energy than it should. If you notice any of these signs, be sure to call a pro right away.

The average lifespan of a boiler is typically between 15 and 20 years, though some may last for as little as 10 years while others can reach 30. A boiler's longevity is influenced by several factors, including the quality of the unit, proper installation, and consistent professional maintenance.

The material also plays a significant role. Older boilers made from durable cast iron can last for over 20 years, with some functioning for up to 50 years. However, it's important to consider their lower efficiency, which can lead to higher utility bills. Modern boilers, often made from steel alloys, are designed to withstand high pressure and temperatures and have an average lifespan of about 20 years.

To maximize your boiler's lifespan, ensure it is installed correctly, have it professionally maintained each year, and address any necessary repairs immediately.
