"The workers were extremely efficient and finished faster than I expected. The insulation, radiant barriers in my dormers as well as replacement of a non functioning attic exhaust fan was well done. Price was very reasonable. I'm looking forward to reducing my energy costs and having a more comfortable living space. 5 stars for sure."

"I highly recommend getting additional quotes. My first number from USA Sprayfoam was significantly more than what I ended up paying for my two attics. Don’t go for the cheapest or most expensive quotes unless you feel like you’re inviting the right company in to do the work your having done. USA matched my lowest quote and they are fantastic. The removal of the old insulation was a solid five or six hours of work - it had been up there 44 years and only added to over the years so as you can imagine, it was nasty stuff. Both crews were attentive to our home and protected the flooring with a plastic base everywhere the hose was to be dragged through. They cleaned up so well, it was like they were never even there. And the end result was absolutely stunning. We had a small rodent population in the attic and a few snakes. After flaming, nothing can get in and our attic temperature won’t go above 78 degrees or below the 60s in the winter. Well worth the cost to have this done and we will save a lot of money for as long as this home stands. No-brainer upgrade."

"It took several calls to get someone out to measure for the door. They were very quick with the installation. I had a coupon that covered 1st 20 sq ft, but had to pay additional $650 for about 15 sq ft more. This was higher than other quotes, but I was already committed. Doors look great and so far no issues. Overall a good job, but pricey."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Plaster can be a difficult DIY to master, especially if you plan to plaster an entire room, rather than patch a small area. Before you begin a plaster DIY project, you need to know which tools and type of plaster to use. It's also important to know how to prepare the surface and apply the plaster for a smooth finish. If that all sounds like a lot of work, you may prefer hiring a local plaster repair contractor to do the job.

Plaster itself has a higher R-value than drywall. However, there are other considerations surrounding plaster and insulation. As a general rule, it's easier to obtain consistency in insulating value and quality when working with drywall rather than plaster. Plaster walls often don't contain any insulation behind the wall covering by design, and careful evaluation is necessary when choosing to add it.

In most cases, no, you won’t need a permit to replace drywall. If you’re changing the floorplan of your home by adding or removing walls during the drywall project, then you might need a permit, but replacement or repairs usually doesn’t require a permit. Your drywall professional should be able to confirm whether or not a permit is required for your project. If it is, it’s likely to add between $50 and $150 to your total cost. Keep in mind that you will need permits if you plan to install new electrical wiring or plumbing lines behind your new drywall.

Walls should be as smooth as possible before applying peel-and-stick wallpaper. Although you technically can apply wallpaper on textured walls, the peel-and-stick variety won’t last long without a clean, smooth surface for the adhesive to stick to. If you have textured walls, consult a pro about removing the textured finish before moving forward with wallpaper.

Drywall tape is made of paper, while drywall mesh is made of fiberglass or metal. Drywall mesh patches are suitable for repairing small holes in drywall, while paper drywall tape holds a crease better for corners. You need joint compound to adhere drywall tape to the wall, while mesh patches may be self-adhesive.
