"The company had repaired leaks in my 1996 barrel tile roof after the 2005 hurricane season. Other leaks occurred with the recent hurricane, so I decided to go with a metal roof. I knew that barrel tile roofs do not prevent rain infiltration onto the underlayment, allowing water flows into valleys to erode the underlayment, causing the leaks and rot. The code underlayment quoted (2 separate layers) is more robust now, but I ordered at extra cost an even more robust underlayment. The company contact was more than helpful in arranging for "custom" installation. The installation team was meticulous in doing the custom work, very professional, the company contact checked in every day, my property was cleaner when they left, the office answered all my inquiries within 24 hours, a real homeowner-friendly contractor. If I lived further inland, I have no doubt I would have been equally happy with the standard installation."

Latex paint is one of the best paint types for textured walls. This water-based paint is fast-drying and has low volatile organic compounds (VOCs), making it safer and more convenient for painting walls that require several coats of paint. 

If you’re painting exterior walls, you can also consider using oil-based paint, but keep in mind that it takes much longer to dry and can slow your project down considerably.

You can’t paint a foundation like you would the walls in your home; there are a few extra important steps to take. Instead of just busting out the paint, you should clean the surface and fix any impurities before grabbing the brush. Using a paint sprayer to apply sealant and primer will ensure you have the perfect canvas to apply your chosen paint color.

It's possible to paint over paneling without sanding if you use a primer that masks defects and provides a strong base layer for the final coat of paint to adhere to. If you have solid wood paneling, it's helpful to sand it lightly so your primer and paint stick. But, if your paneling has a faux veneer, skip the sanding because you’ll remove a layer and expose the pressed board underneath.

If you paint a vinyl fence, it will likely stick to it for only a brief amount of time. This is because vinyl is not a porous material, so it's not an ideal surface for holding paint. Initially, paint will stick to your fence, but it will eventually peel off. Applying primer before painting your vinyl fence will help paint last longer. Though it depends on the exact type, most paint lacquers only take about 15 to 30 minutes to dry. However, you’ll want to wait at least four hours before applying another coat and anywhere between 2 days and 2 weeks before polishing.
