"I hired them to do siding on my home I reviewed different locations of their work and their work is excellent! Before I could get them to do my home I had some serious health issues in my family and I had to cancel the job for now. I will tell you they were very compassionate to my situation very understanding and gave me a refund of my deposit! "Shillem Specialities replaced and repaired Cypress lap siding, replaced rotten wood, thoroughly cleaned and prepped my home and then professionally painted my home. Shillem Specialities lived up to what they promised to do plus more. I received professional service and quality work . They were in honest in their dealings with me by repairing what could be repaired and then replacing siding and other wood that was beyond repair. "I submitted a request and they called me within the hour. Within the day, the were out a gave me an estimate. Three days later, the repairs were complete. The only reason it took that long? The vinyl siding I needed wasn't in stock."

Concrete log siding offers some cost savings when compared to wood logs. Real wood logs require ongoing maintenance that can total up to $750 annually, while concrete log siding doesn’t require annual maintenance. Since concrete log siding exceeds the requirements of most building codes, it can also lower insurance premiums and boost resale value.

Steel and aluminum are two types of metal siding that are commonly used for residential and commercial buildings, but the materials have specific differences. Typically, steel is heavier and sturdier, fending off scratches and dents, while aluminum is lightweight and more prone to damage. Cost is another differentiating factor, as steel is more expensive than aluminum siding cost.

Mildew grows into porous wood, making it more difficult to remove than regular dirt (and more destructive). We suggest using a dedicated mildew and mold fungicide to remove mildew, which is found in any local home improvement store. Apply a dose of the fungicide to the siding and leave to work according to the instructions, usually for an hour or two. Then wash it thoroughly away and scrub the spot again. Repeat the process if necessary. If nothing is removing the mildew stains, you should plan on removing those clapboard planks in time, as their damage could cause future problems.

You may only need to repaint fiber cement siding every decade or so, but you should clean it every six to 12 months, depending on your local climate. First, wash with a garden hose or similar low-pressure device (not a high-pressure washer, which can damage the material) to remove dirt and any large debris. Then, gently wipe down the surface with a soft brush or cloth in a side-to-side motion, following the grain of the fiber cement.

Concrete log siding can last several decades, from 30 to 50 years or more, as long as you keep up with proper maintenance. Luckily, concrete log siding is much lower maintenance than typical types of wood siding, so you’ll also have fewer expenses during that time. To keep your concrete log siding in good shape, you’ll simply need to reseal it every two to five years. Confirm with your manufacturer to determine how often to reseal.
