I’m a skilled welder with hands-on experience in fabrication, repair, and metal joining across a variety of materials like steel, stainless, and aluminum. I’ve worked with multiple welding processes, including MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and stick (SMAW), choosing the right method depending on the job’s strength, precision, and finish requirements.\n\nI take pride in reading blueprints accurately and translating them into clean, strong welds that meet both structural and aesthetic standards. Whether it’s building from scratch, repairing worn components, or doing detailed custom work, I focus on durability, safety, and precision.\n\nSafety is always a top priority for me—I’m trained in proper equipment handling, ventilation awareness, and protective procedures to ensure every job is done responsibly.\n\nI’m also someone who keeps learning—staying updated with new techniques, materials, and tools to improve efficiency and weld quality.

"I highly recommend R & C welding if you need anything that requires welding. My electric gate fell off of the post it was fastened to - and in such a way that this wasn't a job for a gate company, I knew this was a job for a welding company. The posts in the hinges had eroded and snapped, It broke in a way that required removing the existing hinges and new hinges being welded on. The posts that were needed to go in the hinges were going to take awhile to come in and so R & C welding made their own posts and came back out and finished the job the next day. I was so grateful for their ability to fix the gate and also for taking care to fix it so quickly. I highly recommend them!"

"Pete came to my home and built an 18x36 table for my Blackstone on the back of my trailer for tailgates. He was on-time, very polite and communicative. He was living near Chimney Rock and lost everything during the Hurricane. Just a solid guy, hard working and extremely talented. You can’t go wrong. Thank you Pete."

Welding questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can use a saw to cut metal pipes. The best saw to use is a reciprocating saw, but even a fine-tooth hacksaw can get the job done. No matter which saw you use to cut metal pipes, wear protective gear, like work gloves, safety goggles, and ear plugs. Apply a firm, steady pressure to the tool, and always ensure the pipes are secured so they don't move while you make the cuts.

Some welding projects, such as repairing pipes or fences, require travel, whereas others, like furniture repair, do not necessarily require the welder to come to you. Travel and overhead factor into the overall cost of your welding project. Some of the most common welding projects include:

  • Metal furniture repair: $35–$100

  • Pipe repair: $200–$1,000

  • Small gates: $550–$750

  • Fencing: $1,200–$1,800

  • Fabricated sheet metal welding: $750–$2,500

Your typical household tools will not cut a metal pipe. To cut a metal pipe, you’d need more specialized tools like a pipe cutter or circular saw. Do not attempt to use these tools without taking proper safety precautions and wearing safety gear. It’s usually safer to let a pro cut a metal pipe, especially if you’re not confident in your skills with a heavy-duty saw.

Cutting rectangular ductwork requires careful measurements and the right technique. Use a measuring tape and pencil to mark the cutting lines accurately. Tin snips are excellent for straight cuts on smaller ducts. For more extensive or thicker rectangular ducts, a reciprocating saw with a metal-cutting blade is effective.

Ensure the duct is well-supported and secure while cutting to prevent wobbling and maintain precision. After cutting, use a metal file to smooth any sharp edges, ensuring safety during installation.

You should not do your own welding unless you have the proper training and experience. Most home electrical systems can only handle MIG welding, which creates weaker bonds than TIG welding and won’t work on certain metals or metal thicknesses. Both welding forms usually require the use of shielding gas, which can be dangerous to store at home. Additionally, welding machines create temperatures of over 3,000 degrees, and the sparks can blind you if you don’t have the proper equipment. As such, it’s usually better to hire a professional welder for your welding projects.
