"First time hiring KDK Maintenance Co.. Everything was done in a professional manner. The owner Kyle came out to do the job & did we both did a walk thru around my 1 1/2 acre area of my fenced in yard. I only needed him to do mowing & fertilizer. I did all the weed wacking myself. I am super happy with this company. Made a maintenance schedule for this company to come back. My first time I used a professional to maintain my yard. I was very impressed when I talk with him for a price & how many times I wanted him to mow. Other companies only come out every 2 weeks . I needed someone to come out every 3 weeks. That was a plus to me. If your looking for a great professional to maintain your yard this is the company for you. You will not be disappointed."

"Matt came out on Saturday and he offered suggestions and gave me a very fair price for curbing along my fence and taking my downspouts away from my home and installing pop ups. They were done by Friday, and cleaned up very nicely. If the occasion arises I will definitely hire them again. I HIGHLY recommend them."

"I had a big and I mean big mess of debris and whole trees down as well as a rotting oak just ready to take out my house. I called and he came out and walked the yard with me and gave me a really good quote. When it came time for the work he showed up on time and after it was all done he took the time to do a good clean up. He was very professional and I felt at ease and actually knew all that was going on. Any questions any of us had he took the time and answered. After watching all the work I can honestly say not only is the service really good but the price was beyond amazing. Hands down best service I've seen in a long time."

"Ron provided reasonable pricing in his first quote itself. He and his team was punctual every day, and cleaned up when they left. They would understand my questions and concerns and fix them, and asked what else they could do to make me a happy customer. Ron will provide a written detailed quote and ensure everything is done properly. I highly recommend his work for exterior painting, pressure wash and yard work."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Many people have used old tires in gardens as raised beds, planters, tree rings, and DIY decor. However, these uses are not recommended due to the toxicity of many of the chemicals used to manufacture tires. These chemicals can leach into the soil and water as the tire breaks down, creating environmental pollution and health hazards for gardeners and their families.

Hedges can be trimmed in many other shapes than the standard square shape. They can be cut into spiral, cone, and sphere shapes. However, cutting and maintaining these types of shapes is much more challenging. There are metal frames that you can purchase to place around the hedge to make it much easier.

Yes, you can landscape in the rain, but you should take some precautions to keep yourself and your tools safe. Avoid using electric landscaping tools during rainfall, and don’t mow, thatch, aerate, or rake in the rain, as your tools can more easily tear out roots in the loose soil. Be careful when working on wet grass, and take your time to avoid slipping. Avoid putting in new plants before a particularly bad storm, as heavy rain and strong winds can damage or uproot plants that aren’t yet established.

A half inch above ground level is ideal for metal edging. This provides enough depth for the edging to hold in place and enough height to keep in most landscaping materials (like mulch or gravel). If you install edging too high off the ground, it will stand out from your landscaping and pose a tripping risk. If you install it too low, your ground cover won’t stay in place.

Monkey grass isn’t too picky when it comes to light conditions: It needs sun but prefers partial shade. While it can tolerate full sun, it thrives in environments with partial shade (around four to six hours of sunlight per day). The black mondo grass variety is the most tolerant of heat from direct sunlight.
