"S.A.B tree experts were a pleasure to do business with. I had several other companies come out to look and quote the job. Steve came out gave me a good education on the things I hadn’t even thought of. Quote was honest and reasonable. He and his crew did the work and clean up and it was excellent. We are already planning our next project with him!!!! Give S.A.B. Tree Experts a call you will not be disappointed."

"Als communication was fantastic, very responsive. He was flexible with the schedule to fit the job in as soon as possible. He arrived when he was scheduled and did a fantastic job removing the stump. Things were cleaned up at the end. This was a great experience and I would highly recommend his service. "Josh and his partner, Joel, were absolutely terrific and would recommend to anyone seeking tree service in the Central Mass area. We hired them to cut down two trees in a challenging spot between our home and our neighbors property. They provided us a favorable quote relative to other companies we reached out to in the area and were extremely personable and communicative in terms of available dates which allowed for a smooth project. Within days of the quote, Josh and Joel were onsite and were able to successfully cut the two large trees in roughly 2 to 2.5 hours which is notable given the size of the trees and unique location on our property. We intend to hire them for future tree projects around our property going forward."

"This is an excellent company. They did an excellent job removing the trees and even stacked the wood that I wanted to keep. They left my yard spotless removing every bit of debris. On top of all of this, they gave me the best price from the 4 quotes I got. Highly recommended."

"Wonderful job! Two teams performed the work on two different days and both jobs were performed with competence, professionalism and while exhibiting excellent customer service. This is the second time we have hired them and this time, all of their activities were within 30 feet of the house. They managed to remove 3 large oak trees and trim 4 more with no mishaps or damage to our property. We wouldn’t hesitate to hire them in the future nor recommend them to others."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Whether tree roots will continue to grow after a tree has been cut down depends on the species. Some tree roots will eventually die because they can no longer get nutrients through photosynthesis. However, other species that reproduce through root sprouts can continue to grow and produce new sprouts for seven years or more. For example, the roots of elms, ficus, and willows tend to regrow aggressively, while the roots of pines, oaks, and maples will typically die. To determine if a root system is still active, look for new sprouts on the old trunk, stump, or any exposed roots.

Dying trees and even dead trees can spread diseases to other living trees. There are many different types of tree diseases, so it’s essential to address the issue as soon as possible to prevent the disease from spreading to other healthy trees. If the tree cannot be saved and is infected, you need to have it removed to protect the other trees on your property.

Often, it’s the homeowner’s responsibility to handle the aftermath when a neighbor’s tree falls on their property. But if a tree has been obviously dead for a significant period of time and caused damage when it fell, a case can be made that the owner should have removed it, especially if the neighbor wrote you a letter about the tree or asked you to take it down. This can be grounds for a successful lawsuit in claims court and is a good reason to always pay attention to your trees and remove dead trees before they fall.

If it’s your property, then you can plant a tree near power lines, but it’s not the best idea. Any vegetation that grows within 10 feet or so of power lines will fall under the responsibility of the utility company, and they may trim or remove it as necessary. If you do move forward with your plan, try to choose a smaller ornamental tree, plant it as far away from the power lines as you can, and keep it trimmed to avoid future problems.

Most trees can be successfully transplanted while they are young, but pines, walnuts, and some oak tree varieties are more difficult to move because their root systems grow deeper than most other trees. Also, trees adapted to sandy soil with wide root systems like beeches, willows, and aspens are harder to dig out because their roots spread much farther out from the trunk. In these cases, unless the trees are very young and small, it’s a good idea to consult a tree planting professional.
