Customers say: Quick response

"We had new cement/stone front steps installed and needed wrought iron railings to complete the work. Benny responded immediately to my request and came the same day for an estimate. Once hired he again came immediately to determine final details to purchase materials. Actual installation took less than 2 hours and was done very professionally. I highly recommend Duro Welding for any metal railing project."

"Rick and the folks from Durham fence did a fine job. Came promptly in response to a request for an on-site inspection and estimate of costs of different fencing options we were considering. Talked us through the merits and costs of alternative fencing options and then provided us with detailed written proposals that specified the cost of each. Though Durham Fence's proposal was not the cheapest we considered, neither was it the costliest — and I'm confident we received very good value for our dollars. The work was done carefully and the result is a strong, attractive fence, with sturdy, well designed gates and much more durable containment for our dogs than the welded wire option that another fence company urged upon us. We are very pleased and would look to Durham Fence again for other fencing needs."

Welding questions, answered by experts

The average cost for a welding project is about $300, with typical costs ranging from $125 to $490. However, prices can be as low as $125 for very small jobs or exceed $1,200 for large or complex projects. Welders typically charge an hourly rate between $65 and $150, depending on their experience, and many charge a minimum fee to cover overhead and travel expenses. The total cost is influenced by several factors, including labor, the cost of materials like metal rods and shielding gas, the type of metal being welded, the project's size and complexity, and your geographic location. For a precise quote, it's best to ask a local welder for an estimate based on your specific project.

Since water heaters are primarily made of metal, they’re commonly accepted by scrap yards and collectors. Don’t expect to fetch a high price, though—water heaters are mostly steel and aluminum, which aren’t high-value metals. Some components are made of more valuable metals, like brass and copper, but they’re a small portion of the heater and won’t affect the price much.

Yes, but you’ll need reliable steel-cutting tools and safety gear to get started. Shipping containers are typically around ¾ inch thick, so it’s entirely possible to cut through them, but experience and the right equipment are very important. When possible, try to get a container as close to the size you want it as possible.

Sawing your hot tub into more manageable chunks so it can be lifted easily into a truck takes several hours. Generally, 2.5 hours for smaller hot tubs and around 4 hours for larger ones with the help of one to two people. If money isn't a concern and you want to skip the physical labor, you can hire a pro to get the job done.

Yes, you can use a saw to cut metal pipes. The best saw to use is a reciprocating saw, but even a fine-tooth hacksaw can get the job done. No matter which saw you use to cut metal pipes, wear protective gear, like work gloves, safety goggles, and ear plugs. Apply a firm, steady pressure to the tool, and always ensure the pipes are secured so they don't move while you make the cuts.
