"I highly recommend CRS Painting. They have done so many home improvement projects for us and every one of them has been outstanding. They painted the exterior of our raised ranch, put down a new wood floor, and painted our family room. The most recent project, in November 2025, was painting our dining room, living room, halls and a bedroom and installing and staining six doors. Their is exceptional. When they paint they move all the furniture, cover it carefully and put it back neatly. They patch all the holes in the walls and cracks in the ceilings. They pay attention to every single detail and are friendly and responsive. I will definitely hire Celso and CRS for our next home improvement job."

"This is a LONG OVERDUE and SERIOUSLY NEEDED review. I am truly surprised this crew of amazing workers do not have more reviews by now. I am a serious procrastinator and I also wanted to see how it all held up and how warm winter was before posting a review. I started with needing a teardown and rebuild of a deck that extended off the house since the ledger board was rotting and not at all safe. We ended up finding termites and followed the termite damage and then found out I had ZERO insulation in the house. This turned into removing 2 layers of exterior siding on the house, removing the old style sheathing to get to the studs around the entire house to look for termite damage and in turn we ended up repairing the termite damage, re-sheathing the entire house with zip panels and zip tape rolled on, redoing all the window trim and siding along with installing a rain screen and exterior insulation over the zip panels. They never gave me any complaints or forced me to go with the ways they wanted like most contractors would do. I would tell them, they would look, we would talk about it and Oscar was always asking if it was good before doing the the rest. I wanted mineral wool in my house walls since they were exposed. Mineral wool is fireproof and a good sound barrier (wow it makes a world of difference - I cant even hear the wind unless I have my ears next to a window now) . I could write a novel on how much work was done. I never expected to do that much but Oscar and the crew were willing to help me out. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for putting up with me and how I wanted things done. Everyone on the block compliments the work done and how amazing it looks, our family loves it, I love it, we are comfortable and at peace of mind. (termite bait stations were put in and as we also redid everything we bought a termite borate spray and sprayed the entire sill plate (mudsill) and bottom 6 ft of the house and new zip panels as we put them up. we even waterproofed the bottom 3ft front and back of the panels with liquid flashing to prevent future rot , even behind the ledger board and higher. Just amazing! We saved an entire tank of oil (250 gallons) this year by doing this. May not seem like much but hey, 0 insulation to about r-15 in the walls (2x4) and exterior insulation 1" R-4 (wish I did more but then windows needed more pvc to bump-out and pvc is getting pricey) . So r-0 to r-19! When I get more money I hope this crew is still doing their work, I'll be looking for them first! Tons of pictures taken, please use them!"

"We recently hired Joe to paint my mother’s entire house and two-story garage, and the results were beautiful. He was responsive, quick, and truly listened to what we wanted. He worked closely with us throughout the project, was easy to communicate with, and handled every change request professionally and without hesitation. What stood out most was his care and attention to detail. He took pride in his work, and it showed in the finished product. The whole property looks refreshed and absolutely beautiful. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a skilled, reliable, and professional painter."

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

Many people, including professionals in the field, use baluster and spindle interchangeably to describe the vertical components of a railing (or technically, a balustrade). However, there are subtle or distinct differences, depending on who you ask. The most common interpretation is that spindles are thin or delicate versions of balusters.

Hiring a woodworker can be expensive, depending on the job, but it’s very often well worth the investment. Woodworkers are able to provide custom pieces of furniture and handmade construction to present a finished product that is exactly to your specifications. If you have a specific vision for a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture or home feature, the cost of hiring a professional woodworker is worthwhile. Plus, you’ll often get a higher quality product than what you could buy in stores for a fraction of the price.

Joists and beams are both part of the flooring system above your basement, with the beams spanning the length of your home and getting support from vertical posts underneath, and joists usually spanning half the width of your home with no support posts underneath. The floor joists provide even support to the subflooring and flooring above, and they distribute that load to the beams. The beams then distribute that load down through the support posts to the foundation.

Many contractors prefer checks because they’re easy to track and have no associated fees. However, many also accept credit cards (though they might add a fee to cover their processing costs).

You don’t need a cutting board. In fact, cutting is the original purpose of butcher block countertops. That said, wood is porous and can harbor germs. You’ll need to clean your countertop thoroughly after use. Knives can also scratch the surface. This adds to the patina of the wood, but not everyone likes the look—in which case, you may want to use a cutting board.
