"The project started well, but on the final day, the contractors unexpectedly claimed they made a mistake and demanded an additional $8000, threatening legal action if not paid. I verified Colorado law, which states they had six months to place a lien on our property, requiring notification within three days of doing so, and by registered mail after the lien was placed. We took no action, avoiding reviews or contact. They have since blocked us from their website and emails. Ultimately, they never placed a lien, and the six-month period has passed. Now that everything is resolved, I want to leave a review. While I am satisfied with the project's outcome, I am unhappy with their conduct, including the legal threats and the last-minute demand for more money. His wife, not him, conducted the final walkthrough and provided the warranty and a statement confirming full payment. He even verbally admitted to putting our project on the "back burner" when I questioned the delay."

Applying window security film yourself is possible, but we don’t recommend it. This task is simple in theory, but getting the product to sit on your windows evenly and without bubbles underneath is challenging for DIYers who lack the necessary experience and tools. You might save money on labor by applying it yourself, but you might also end up with a film that doesn’t look appealing, prompting you to start over and spend the money on a professional installation anyway. Plus, most window film manufacturers will void your warranty if you install the product yourself.

Installing tinting on your own home windows is possible, but not recommended. It’s very easy to make mistakes that leave visible bubbles or imperfections in the protective coating. Not only does this look unprofessional and detract from your home’s curb appeal, but it also limits the usefulness of the tint and may still let sunlight and solar heat through your windows. If your window film doesn’t come with an installation kit and its own application solution, you can make your own—but don’t use soap! Instead, use 1 teaspoon of baby shampoo mixed with a gallon of bottled water. Make sure the bucket in which you mix this solution is completely clean.
