"This company HomeAdvisor referred me to was Amazing! Prompt, fair, friendly, very professional, yet personable. Great value for the money. They went far beyond what I really hired them to do. Among other special treatment, I received was over concern for my safety as I am a Senior citizen. Without charging me extra, they corrected a safety issue at the entrance to my property! Everything was clean, orderly, no debris left behind, In spite of some problems with the weather, the job was finished very professionally, on time and without any problems whatever! I immensely also appreciate the fine service to me by HomeAdvisor!! Thank You!!"

"Because this was in the winter, they brought a concrete heater and prepared the area of the patio that needed to be mudjacked. They called us with plenty of notice as to when they would be there and arrived on time. They were polite and courteous and were able to raise our back patio up the 3 inches or so that it had dropped and did not make a mess. We appreciated the fact that they honored a quote they'd given us last year, even though it took us a while to be in a financial position to hire them."

"I live in Pueblo West, CO. I met Noel through Angi. Noel called me within 5 minutes of asking for an estimate to do an asphalt driveway. He met with my husband & I and gave a fair quote. Within one week, he was at my home and the driveway had been completed. The driveway is approximately 128 ft X 25 ft. Professional workmanship was completed from the very beginning of the demo work, to the finished paving and tamping down. The driveway looked stunning and was 1000% better than anything we could have ever hoped for. Noel and this company have integrity, honesty, and they are very knowledgeable. Very highly skilled workman. I recommend this company to anyone looking for a polished and professional job done at a very reasonable cost. What he promised, he delivered. We are extremely pleased and happy to have hired him. Wonderful people."

"I could name the whole crew (and I appreciate the office staff) as they knew the job and could accommodate the tight residential spaces and strange drainage issues I was having with the old pavement. they removed the old pavement, regraded where necessary, and put in the new and my driveway looks great. They were on time...I got a cancellation appointment, so they were able to come do the job even earlier... and the job was completed in one day at the price estimated. The drainage was recently tested with close to an inch of rain in 15 minutes and what I wanted, they delivered. I highly recommend them."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Asphalt edging secures the sides of your driveway to prevent crumbling and cracking over time. Most driveways have edges with a 45-degree grading. This helps transfer some of the stress from the asphalt to the ground underneath. If your driveway doesn’t have proper edging, the pressure from your car may break down the edges over time.

It’s best to weigh the pros and cons of each material and decide on your priorities for your driveway. Gravel won’t be an appropriate choice if your driveway experiences heavy traffic. You’ll find that you need to level and top it off regularly, which could make the material a much more expensive option.

Asphalt and tarmac are not the same thing. Traditional tarmac, short for tarmacadam, uses tar as a binder to hold crushed stone together. Asphalt uses bitumen—a byproduct of crude oil—to bind aggregate. Though tarmac was once a go-to for roads, asphalt has become the modern standard. And these days, most surfaces referred to as “tarmac” are actually asphalt. So, while the names may overlap, the key distinction lies in the binder—tar for tarmac and bitumen for asphalt.

The choice between asphalt and concrete depends on your priorities, budget, and climate.

Concrete is generally more durable, lasting up to 50 years with minimal upkeep, and offers more customization options like staining and stamping, which can add more to a home's value. However, it is more expensive upfront and can be prone to cracking in cold climates where water can freeze and expand.

Asphalt is typically cheaper and quicker to install and is easier to repair. It performs better in colder climates. However, it requires more maintenance, including regular resealing, has a shorter lifespan, and can get hot and sticky in intense sunlight.

Ultimately, if durability and long-term value are key, concrete is often the better choice. If upfront cost and performance in cold weather are more important, asphalt may be preferable.

You can expect your asphalt pavement to last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, or 25 years on average. The life expectancy of your asphalt driveway depends on the climate, the amount of traffic, and how well you maintain it. While you can’t necessarily control some of these factors, you can control the amount of maintenance effort you put into your driveway.

To prevent your asphalt from deteriorating prematurely, you should follow a good maintenance routine involving regular cleaning, reparation work, and resealing.
