"It is tough to find good contractors that will perform quality work, are reliable, don't need constant supervision, and knowledgeable about the different areas of construction. Dan, the owner of Voltaire Engineering, is the rare combination of a good contractor that performs quality work. I have hired Dan to fix multiple rental properties for me with a wide range of things to fix from structural to cosmetic items. Dan has never let me down and his work is impeccable. It is a bonus that he specializes in energy efficiency. I've had several of my properties foamed in the walls, crawlspace, and attic to improve the energy efficiency rating and my tenants cite that one of the reasons they lease my properties long term is due to the lower utility bills. Dan also has an exclusive deal with a window manufacturer in Denver in which he is able to purchase windows at a discount versus through a store. I will be working with Dan in the future as I find more places that need to be fixed!"

"Michael built us a beautiful deck.  He knew we needed the deck built before our wedding (about 30 days) and he made sure it was done.  He showed up every morning (Mon-Sat) at 7:30am and was there most days for about 10-12 hours.  He also cleaned up each evening before leaving.  Our deck is very beautiful and very unique.  Michael worked with us to come up with a really nice design.  We would definitely use him again for other home projects.
Michael also helped us with some plumbing issues while he was there.  He didn't need to do that, but he is such a great guy.  He also is a Christian with great morals.  :-)

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Framing with metal studs can be significantly faster than using wooden studs, provided you have some experience working with the material. While you can use virtually instant pneumatic nailers with wood, metal requires installing screws. However, because metal is lighter, straighter, usually comes cut-to-length, and doesn't require sorting for the best pieces, you can save significant time using metal instead of wood.

While some highly experienced homeowners can frame a house independently, it is not advisable. You will need ample carpentry experience, a team of helpers, and professionals to sign off on your work to meet local building codes. For the safest outcome, we recommend buying or building a house with the guidance of professionals.

Yes, most services include necessary frame modifications for proper door fitting. Confirm with your provider.

There are a variety of second-story deck privacy ideas depending on your budget and aesthetic. For starters, you might consider fencing or tall privacy railing that masks a good portion of the open deck. A pergola or an awning can provide additional cover and shade. Outdoor curtains are an easy way to add or remove privacy at your convenience, plus they’re a wallet-friendly way to decorate your deck.

Enhances property value, ensures safety, and provides a sound basis for future construction.
