Communication was excellent throughout the project, pricing was fair, and the quality of workmanship exceeded expectations. "The work was to replace the screens in10 windows. The contractor selected the time and date for an estimate but didn't show up. He called the next day and setup a new time and did show up. We agreed on a price to replace 7 screens and provide "sun screens" on 3 windows. They removed the screens for the 7 windows and returned the next day to reinstall them. One of the screens was installed so tight there were 1/4 inch gaps without screen coverage on the sides. They took that screen back and reinstalled the screen so it fit the window. When it came time to install the "sun screens" the installer wasn't prepared with the proper screws or hold down clips. There are 2 windows the same size and on one window he used 6 clips and on the other he used 8 clips and on all windows he used 2 different types of clips (plastic and metal) and 2 different types of screws (drywall screws and pan head screws)... it looks weird. The sun screens do, however, block the sun very nicely. I contacted the owner and told him I wasn't happy with the Sun Screen installation and asked him to come by and see the install. He said he would but here we are a week later and he is a no show so far. Should never had paid my bill."

"Kerwin called the morning of service and apologized letting me know it took a while for him to find my phone number through Angie's List.  He showed about 45 minutes outside of the original time window planned, but came to the house and was here for about 2 1/2 hours.  He let me know that for the price I paid, it would not be a deep clean if my car was really soiled.  He did a very nice job getting some stains out and an overall good job detailing.  He also did a very nice job getting my headlights clean.  I give him an A rating as although the cleaning wasn't exceptional, it was very good for the price paid.  I have already recommended Aloha Detailing to a friend.

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

There could be several reasons why your carpet padding has adhered to the floor. Some of the most common reasons include:

  • There was intentional gluing or stapling to the surface.

  • The polyurethane and floor bonded over years of wear.

  • Pet urine, spills, or other substances leaked through the carpet and created a sticky surface.

If the carpeting in the home has not been changed in a long time, clearing off the padding underneath could be difficult. Pet urine can wreak havoc on carpeting and the flooring underneath. If you plan to reinstall carpeting, remember to use proper cleaning techniques for removing pet urine odors to prevent future problems.

Yes, you can technically make a crawl space liveable, but the only way to do so is by converting it into a basement. While some crawl spaces are big enough to walk through and store large items, they lack appropriate insulation and space to be liveable.

When installing carpeting on your steps, start at the top and work your way to the bottom. That way, you can easily control the carpet and create a better seal. This approach prevents the carpet from bunching up or creating wrinkles as you work. You’ll have better leverage over it as gravity helps guide it down each step.

Installing carpet padding is mostly a matter of measuring the room and cutting the carpet pad to size with a utility knife. You can save some money on carpet installation costs by doing it yourself. Before installing the carpet padding, you should install the tack strips around the room’s perimeter and prepare the subfloor by cleaning and making any necessary repairs. Then, unroll the carpet pad and cut sections as needed. Staple the carpet pad to the subfloor along the edges, leaving the tack strips exposed.

The first step in budgeting for carpet is to determine the amount of carpet you need and the type of carpet you want. You might be tempted to opt for the least expensive option if you have a limited budget, but a low-quality carpet won’t last as long as a high-quality one. When accounting for future carpet repair costs, it makes sense to buy the best-quality carpet you can afford.
