"I had my garden and bathroom remodel done. Albert and Samuel were professional, friendly, and a delight to work with. They're responsive and reliable. I also like the subcontractors whom they used on my project. They kept me informed of everything and I appreciate their excellent work."

"John and the staff at Alden's Carpet and Drapes are absolutely the best.  They're friendly, knowledgeable and work to your schedule.   We installed new carpet in two large master bedrooms, a hallway, landing and stairs.  The installation crew arrived at 7:30 AM, moved all the furniture, including an upright piano, had the old carpet and padding removed and new padding and carpet installed and the furniture back in place before 11:00 AM.  These guys are the greatest."

"We've shampooed our carpets ourselves using a very nice system about once a year for the last 7 years. But, the big stains kept coming back. We decided to finally hire a professional. This industry is full of scams, so I was very skeptical. A husband/wife team: She gave me the quote and he cleaned. Everything is included in the quote...no up-sells or tricks. Although the big scrubbing machine looks like it's going to tear up your carpet, it was fine. Our carpet has never been cleaner. Our stairs were a mess. They look much better now, but the dust that gets in the corners and sides of the stairs can stain the carpet. That's what happened to us....if you don't clean it out for 7 years, it's just not going to come out! I recommend this company. However, if you want your carpets cleaned under and behind your furniture, you need to tell them that because they clean only in the open, high traffic areas if you aren't specific about what you need."

Carpet Stretching questions, answered by experts

There could be several reasons why your carpet padding has adhered to the floor. Some of the most common reasons include:

  • There was intentional gluing or stapling to the surface.

  • The polyurethane and floor bonded over years of wear.

  • Pet urine, spills, or other substances leaked through the carpet and created a sticky surface.

If the carpeting in the home has not been changed in a long time, clearing off the padding underneath could be difficult. Pet urine can wreak havoc on carpeting and the flooring underneath. If you plan to reinstall carpeting, remember to use proper cleaning techniques for removing pet urine odors to prevent future problems.

Bumps, wrinkles, or detachment often require stretching for smoothness.

Yes, you can revive carpet that’s flattened using household items like an ice cube and stiff brush, a damp cloth and an iron, baking soda and vinegar, and shaving cream. If you want to go all-out, visit a local home improvement store and buy a carpet rake, too. Depending on the state of your carpet, you may need to use more than one of these methods to see results. Keep in mind that you might need to repeat a reviving method more than once.

An Oriental rug should last between 50 and 100 years, on average, but yours could last much longer than a century if you care for it properly. There are many factors that affect the lifespan of an Oriental rug, though. Increased foot traffic, exposure to moisture, exposure to UV light and sunlight, and aggressive cleaning can all limit how long your rug will last.

Maintenance practices include regular vacuuming, prompt spill cleaning, and periodic professional deep-cleaning to remove embedded dirt particles and rejuvenate fibers.
