"My experience with Ocean Seven Builders was absolutely stressed free! The high-quality contractor I have ever worked with. I hardly knew there was construction in my rental property and all this all with full bathroom renovation! Jimmy was very officiant and pleasant to work with. Communication was great his suggestion to improve the design defiantly made a great difference! Wow, what a great job they were done! I am fully satisfied with the results and highly recommend Ocean Seven Builders."

"Joshua is great! I purchased the toilets at Home Depot and arranged for Joshua to pick them up. Well HD Lancaster location only had two of the HE toilets that I wanted, so the 3rd toilet was picked up in the HD Palmdale store. Joshua did all this with pleasure. He was on time, work was completed superbly and cleanup was on point. I will always call on Joshua for my Handyman needs..."

Awnings questions, answered by experts

Fabric awnings provide shade, reduce energy costs, and enhance outdoor aesthetics.

Costs range from $1,000 to $5,000, depending on size, material, and design complexity.

It depends on how you’ll use it. Both awnings and pergolas create shelter in outdoor areas, but pergolas have grid-style roofs, which are more open than awnings and not as effective at blocking out UV rays and precipitation. Also, pergolas are permanent structures, so you can’t put them away when you aren’t using them (unlike retractable awnings).

Awnings offer a number of benefits, including:

  • Reduced summer home cooling costs with lower solar heat gains

  • Protection from sun, rain, and snow damage

  • Increased curb appeal for your home

Keep in mind that awnings also have drawbacks, including the potential to reduce your view, block natural light, and create new occasional home maintenance needs.

You can indeed open your awning in winter. It’s a misconception that you can only open retractable awnings in the warmer months. In fact, modern awnings are strong enough to offer a little respite from the snow if you’re someone who enjoys sipping hot cocoa outside on a beautiful winter day. But if a big storm is coming, such as a hurricane or a blizzard, it’s best to close your awning until the weather calms down.
